Why do you own it?

I spoke with a friend the other day about the GT and he made a solid comment.

"Don't get so tied up in the car .... its just a car. Drive the damn thing. If someone said that my son would be sick for three months unless I burned my Gt it would be on fire in two minutes" (that was a bit of paraphrase but you get the idea) Life is more important than any car.

I recently sold the sinister car and its new owner graciously sent a thank you note for how well (maintained) it was. It only had 65 miles on it and was spotless. So it got me to thinking. Why do I own a car that I care about .. and the answer is I don't .... I care more about the people in my life .. ... so..

Since #1076 is the queen of youtube and driving it is like being in a photo shoot constantly and that a few things have come together and one came apart. I have decided to make her a street/track car. The question is should I put a cage in her? Maybe I can get Kip to make some custom panels for the dash and pilars to cover the cage. Any thoughts?

Anyone out there wanting to sell a 06 yellow car or a blue no stripe car. I'm looking for a street DAILY driver.

Oh BTW Spirit ...I'm driving her to Texas tomorrow ... so add another 1000 miles to my odometer ... I'm catching you buddy.:thumbsup

If you don't drive it why do you own it?

Steve

I since a TRAP!!!!!! I REFUSE to venture into it!!!!!

Pockets .... its well known that you are the dad who owns the Ferrari in Ferris Beullers day off! You don't count ...

But since you chimed in I will be sure to send you a new package of those high quality cotton baby diapers that you use on your GT.

BTW did you get that ticket for having an abandoned vehicle yet? :lol

Hey, after I commited the blasphamy of suggesting cotton towels and was run outta town for doing so, I TRIED the microfiber ones - AND NOW I'LL NEVER GO BACK to cotton!!!!! Yew guys were right!:thumbsup (Dang! I hate to admit that...)

...Phhhhhhhht! on yur A.V. ticket. ( 'Haven't gotten one for "no front plate" yet either. And, yes, I know the GT actually has to be seen on the street to be written up for that.:mad :lol:cheers)

ok ... so I'll replace your prize with micro fiber .... ones recommended by Jason even.

Oh .... roll the car out in the driveway and that cop will be right over... its the least I can do. :biggrin

Hey, I heard that if you don't use your car it will start dripping oil ... its the first sign of your car being depressed. you might want to crawl under the car and check it out .... any drips you might want to find a shrink .... either for you or the car. :lol

btw what color is yours?

1) Presently, the car's parked with the rear facing the rollup door ...so, IF the car's wheeled out - any cop lurking behind a bush will SEE a plate! (Besides, the car'd still be on private property. So 'STILL "no ticky"!)

2) "Drips"? We don't wanna go there, do we Stevey!:lol

3) BLUE, of coarse. Is there any OTHER color??? :shrug

:cheers :cheers :cheers

My favorite hot rod is my Black & Silver GT.:thumbsup

The wife said I'll buy you anything as long as you drive it.:banana

She is hip on the excuse I use for all the others (I use the "honey I like working on them as much as driving them")

And yes it is the most fun car for all the reasons one would own a sports car of any car i have ever owned. Quiet when it needs to be great handleing fast as a raped ape, smooth like a swiss watch and every part screams this is a driving machine not a car.

I just love it. I love everything about it. Best sports car ever! :banana:banana:banana

on the trail of a yellow car ... stay tuned.

Aaaaah! You went to shelbyelite's 'site, huh! :skep :biggrin

no ... but I called him ....

:rofl I just KNOWED it!!!

I do understand the garage queen mentality of GT ownership - also the same for supercars in general.

I didn't drive my Murcielago enough and always regretted that.

However, because the GT is a keeper - I always think 'why rush to drive it'. If it's pouring with rain (a frequent event in the UK) I don't fancy spending a few hours cleaning it- which spoils the drive thinking about it. Plus... I have pleasure knowing the GT is all warm and shiny in the garage.

But, I know that sounds a bit gay. :lol

I've got 6,000 miles on the dials and will probably add a couple of thousand next year.

I see it a bit like not attempting the final chapter of the Karma Sutra on your wedding night... :wink

NOT IN THIS LIFETIME

:frown :lol :frown
I still hold the Highest Mileage Heritage title.
:thumbsup :banana :thumbsup

For me it was simple.

Went for a ride in one
Bought my car 5 days later
Drive it as much as I can and enjoy the hell out of it

BET ME .... I am on the hunt for that title. Have car, a reputation for road trips , the desire to drive, and a CC with a high available credit line for gas .... your title is MINE!!!! :willy:willy:willy:willy :lol

I'll be at 15k before the end of the year .... I'll place bets on that one. Especially after I am down in big D.

Might have to run down to the Spirit Ranch just to say HI and rub it in.

Yellow car is the one at the Kansas dealer ..... :ack:ack:ack:ack:ack

I'm going to have to pray over this one. :bow:bow:bow

Steve: Leave Pockets be. I understand him and his affliction, after all thats why my license plate says "WAXER".

You know they not only go fast they also look fast standing still. That can be exciting too!!!!:lol

Thank God there's at least ONE other person!

Allow me to attempt a metaphore to illustrate your (and MY) view regarding how one should enjoy a GT and accumulate the miles it's driven:

(Violin music here) A GT is like a bottle fine wine or good Scotch ... it's ment to be enjoyed slowly ... deliberately ... at one's leisure ... a small portion at a time ... thereby allowing one's self to experience the full measure of the creator's artwork - not guzzled down as if it were a 32 oz. "Big Gulp" at the local Seven Eleven.

Now! 'Zat thar some top drawer poetic eloquence, er whut.:rofl

(I do believe I now need a Rolaid...perhaps two.)

(BTW - thanks, Hellcat!)
