White tire paint update

Question for ya Steve. Sense you have tested several different paints. What did you use to remove the old stuff? or did you just paint over it?

The cost of the paint is 40.00 US (shipped) for a 150ml bottle (i'm getting it a bit cheaper since I bought 8 cans the only break was on the shipping cost). I am still using the paint off the lid and have done all four tires three coats. So my thought was to break it down into model paint size jars and just divide up the total cost that way. Who ever want some pays that plus their shipping cost unless your close and then we can just have a GT meet and I can hand it over.

Won't have an exact cost until everything comes in but .... well its better than having another can of stuff in your garage taking up space for the next decade. I'm looking into moving this one south ... and am dreading the garage part of the move. The rest of the house is a simple thing.


Stunts .... yeah but non-heritage cars don't count. :bored

The good thing about this stuff is that it really does seem to last and not need touch ups. I have yet to get a flake or anything and I am anal about them ... just ask 427aggie about that.

does it come in other colours. The old yellow goodyear on some of the racing tires looked pretty cool as well.

I just over scrub the tire with a tire brush and bleachwhyte. Takes it all the way down to fresh rubber. The largest issue is to get all of the tire dressing off so that you get a good contact patch.


Stunts.... no only in white. I might try to dye a small bit to see if it takes the color and will update on that. Would just use a elasto-polymer paint to do it on the last coat.

Recieved my tire paint from Iceland and have applied same to GT. Small brush to clean letters with lacquer thinner. Rub with rag so no black shows on rag. Use small brush to apply first coat and it will take 2 hrs. +. Second coat goes on quicker and third coat the quickest. Any over paint on the edges will rub off after 1hr+...Looks like this material is the answer. We'll see.............George

I'd definitely take a bottle. I love the original look and a small amount of maintenance would be a small price to pay.

Just make sure you have some profit built in to your price when you post it. You found the stuff and I'm sure we all agree that you deserve it for your time and effort.

I'm going to have it all in the end of the week. When I have them all broken down I will post a message saying I have "x" bottles. If we need more I can get more. not a big deal now that I know where to get all the stuff.

Tire paint is IN!!!!

ok guys the tire paint is in and I have decided to break it down to a 2 oz bottle. Since I have yet to use a half an ounce on my tires this seems about right. I am waiting for the bottles to come in but should have them soon.

It looks like this stuff is going to break down to be about 6.00 a bottle plus shipping. 100.00 for 4 cans plus cost of bottle is about 6.00 a unit when you break it down.

so if your interested I have the paint.
