Looks Great!! What product did you use?

I bought Tire paint that came in a pen like form from an Auto Zone. I have only put on one coat but plan on doing another. $6.99 for one pen and I bought three. Only went through one pen though. Thanks for the approval :thumbsup

Very cool .....

...I think I'll be doing the same now...great idea, looks good

I really like it. How difficult is it to apply?

tmstunts, very cool. Will definately try it on mine. PD

You can also use an old autocrossing trick to check tire pressures, liquid white shoe polish.........

Looks nice on white GTs IMO.

I agree. Looks very good on white GT and maybe red or blue one with white stripes. :cheers

Does it wash off if I don't like it on my red one?

I was wondering when raised white letters would come back. You are helping it along to complete the retro look. Too cool.

I saw it last weekend at it looked so good I bought a pen and gave it a go on my red car. It looks great on the red but damn.... it is gonna shoot the hell out of a day to do it right.

(The wife is about done with my tinkering with this car :lol )

I just bought some paint pens and intend to do mine. The lettering on our tires has a raised lip on the edge so it should be easy to make the letters look sharp (I'm hoping anyway). I would think it is best to do this with the tires taken off the car sitting flat on the ground to minimize runs.

In the paint pen instructions it says that the paint can be removed with acetone so I am guessing if it doesn't look right it can be taken off and returned to stock. I may do my GT500 first since the letters are bigger and I can get some practice.

I caution those that are thinking of painting the tires, if you use white paint it will get grimy easily and flake off if you wash it too aggressively. A big maintenance problem.

Soory, been gone for a while. I took some simple green and washed the tires and then only applied one coat that took a day and a half because I got tired sitting in the drive way. On the product it does say washable but have noticed that it does come off pretty simple with a little elbow greese. I did not take the tires off. Do not get frustrated because at first it will seem like you're not covering any ground but as the paint dries it will begin to take color. I use a grease pen on my racing tires to mark size, pressure and location of tire on car. I do think that the grease pen would be faster but not sure as to how solid of a white you would get. Please post some pics when you guys finish. Thanks for the compliments. :cheers

That looks hot! Did you use acetone or alcohol to prep the tire?

Has not been a problem yet.. I have put on about 1000 miles since the paint has dried. The product I used seemed to turn into an elastic substance. No flakes here. Just a litle testosterone :lol

update

well, since I couldn't find a single place in Sacramento that had tire paint, I relied on the web. After I received what was described as 'tire paint to paint the raised letters on the tires white', I prepped the tires and tested the product. Unfortunately it sucked. I let the paint dry for a day but it would easily rub off with my fingernail. Even worse is that the company won't return my messages to return the product! Can any of you tell me the brand of the paint you're using? Mine is Markal - paint marker.
