What is the "major service"?

Barely anything needs to be serviced on these engines.

If it hasn't been >WRECKED< ... "sticker", minus the cost of all repairs, yada, yada (you didn't specifically state what "major service" means), less an additional big chunk for the miles on it. Pbly no more than $65-$70K.

My question would be, why would you go that way instead of just buying a solid low miler to start with - unless you're just building a "track" car out of it, of coarse.

wait wait...so your knocking off 100K for 50,000 miles while a salvage title car is getting $135?

I don't buy it. I would think that you still going to be over 100K for the car...my bet is not much but over 100.

No. 'Knocking $100K off for the miles AND the repairs ...and we don't know the specifics on those, Matt! :lol :cheers

Kelly blue book has a formula for the miles. So it would be market less KBB deduct for miles then cost of repairs and probably a couple of $k for the displeasure of having to do the work or have it done.

KBB has it at 137K less repairs. So I would say fair market on an unrepaired car is 125-135 .... I guess.

my two cents

Agreed.

i was thinking all fluids to be changed.spark plugs, fuel injection service.if i can get it for 65-70 k it would be a great car to have fun with and not worry about miles being put on.i put on alot of miles on my cars,my 06 viper has 6500 miles in 6 months and my diablo i put over 40,000 km in about a 2 year period.

Lots of variables, but I would still believe, it would fairly easily find buyers over $100K.

But then, again, I personally wouldn't be too interested in such a car, when lower mileage and better condition cars are still available.

I doubt it goes under $100K, with two caveats.

-Its been trashed and it shows: ie, an exotic rental (explains the clutch) or someones ex-track car with numerous warped/singed knocked about panels....then $75K

-Its been someone cruiser with most of it highway miles with some bad road rash, cracked panels all around, dirty interior; A broker dealer will drop in new seats, panels, and have it detailed and flip it.

My take is high mileage is not a deterrent in this market; esp. with warranty.

Factory warranty is gone at 36,000 miles.

No!!!!!!!! Not Mine.

I would guess in the 125/140 range. Clean car never modded. Tires, brakes, liquid changes etc would be less than 5k. Another 3500 for clutch. 10,000 should cover just about it all. Except paint & suspension work.

The motor/transaxles are pretty bullet proof (except the funny bolts) and can be expected to go about 200,000 miles or more, if driven in a reasonable manner.

If thats the major service and the car looks well cared for I bet your in the 120K range for the car. We just had another member that replaced his clutch at 50K so knowing that some owners trashed theirs by starting out in 3rd gear with 10 miles on the car that wouldn't bother me. If that car was under 100 I would buy it and use it for a driver and track car...I would much rather have a car, keeping in mind if it looks trashed I would pass, thats been driven some miles than a salvage title.

regarding the warranty mines an early 06 and I know I am at 2 years mid January so there are alot of 05's that are coming up on the 3 year warranty period.

I think 120 to 135 at least if it is in good shape. NO WAY 75

I have seen cars with 50k that looked brand new! It depends on the owner, if the car is mint the mileage won't mean nearly as much as if it looks beat. If the paint and body is clean it will bring 115 to 120 in my opinion. I would love to buy a GT with 50k miles that still looked new that I could own for 100k, you would be more apt to enjoy the car because you wouldn't be worried about the miles and would drive it more. Not to mention all the extra money in the glove box!:wink
