What a RALLY does to a set of tires.

Guys,

This is what my rear tires look like. The 2013 Shelby GT 500 has 3300 miles. I made a couple of drag passes on them at the end. I drove a total 9 sessions on these. BUT, then I asked Mark to take me for a ride. He asked me how fast and I said please do not make me stain the seats. He went at it about 70%. 2 laps with trac pac traction lock on and 3 laps without traction lock on at all. The people in the paddock were on the wall watching as Mark was drifting the car thru all the slower corners. Corner workers were taking videos. After me he took Tony and Soroush for a drifting ride. Wow, what an experience. Tire Rack = $380.00 each. BUT, the ride was worth it.

^^^ I have a nice video of your traction control drag launch. It will take me a while to deal with all the video and pics and get them posted, but stay tuned!

Great souvenir.

Great ride Larry! Thank you!!!!

WOW! I did'nt destroy my tires! they live another day! But its a great souvenir!

This is why I will take mine to the Bondurant class but only drive it for the last half of the last day. Bob advised me on two occasions to use their cars because you will go through a set of tires and brakes. Just as well use theirs.

And if anyone wondered why I stopped giving "joy rides" and no more track time after 10:30 second day?? And almost 4 tanks of gas... The brake pads looked no better either.... Andres and Chris probably had the BEST idea of renting the mustangs.

How much will it cost me for you not to post the video of my epic fail at turn one?

Dave,

Heck, I am hoping to go viral with that one!!!

LOL

Larry

BTW- Why do you accelerate thru the dirt when you are already 90 degrees to the track??????????????

As a recipient of a great "joyride" Donna and I both appreciate it. When you said your car was "cooked" I see what you mean. Thanks again

haha! I'm stealing that one!

WOW. That track was particularly hard on tires. My Boss 302 S went through two (count them 2!) sets of Hoosiers in one and a half days. I logged only about 180 miles in the car in both days. On Thursday I took it over to the race shop to change alignment and roll bar settings. The head race tech there said that the track is made of crushed granite and is so new it chews up tires. I spent over $2700 in tires for the two days! It was fun though!

Mustangs may be particularly hard on tires. I think roketman said his Boss 302 used a set a day at Watkins Glen...and that track has many years of laps on it.

Anders and Chris definitely had the right idea ~ on that note, did anyone notice who had the most laps?? Track rental on the FR500's included fuel, brakes and tires. Can't get much better than that.

Errr, was that forwards or backwards?
