Rest in Peace Rex. I'm sorry for your loss Tom. God Bless!

Sam, I am really glad that your girl is doing better. Did not intend to hijack your thread in any way. Everything is still a bit raw. I am sure the specialist will get things all worked out and she will make a complete recovery. I am always optimistic that way.

I thought this might be of interest

THINGS WE CAN LEARN FROM A DOG

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy...
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps and stretch before rising.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout, run right back and make friends.
Bond with your pack.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

That was wonderful. Just what I needed to read to put things in perspective during a tough time at my business. Thanks.

Delilah was diagnosed with Acute Kidney Failure stage 3 - and just in time... But even so, they gave her a 50/50 chance. They suspect she ate something poisonous (possibly a plant, either a lily or a coral tree berry) that caused her system to shut down. I went and visited her today and she was more alert than the past few days. She is heavily medicated and resting but when I made eye contact with her, her eyes and eye brows were jittery apparently from the toxins. They did another blood test late this afternoon and thankfully her numbers are improving. We're not out of the woods by any means, but I'm hoping.

Hope she's on the mend Sam.....

Glad to hear of the improvement!! Please keep us posted on her progress.

We're ALL pulling for her Sammy. Keep the faith my friend.

I agree, I plan on reading this next week at my staff meeting!

Any good news???

RIP Delilah

Rest in Peace Delilah. She fought a hard battle but the toxins in her body were too much. After 4 days of laying still and no energy to even stand up, she succumbed in her sleep to Kidney, Pancreas and Liver failure - most probably due to ingesting one of the plants from the garden. All indications leads to Lilies.

She was one of the sweetest dogs I have ever owned and I will miss her - she would have been 2 yrs old in June. My heart aches, but her brother Diesel is comforting me....

Thank you to all those that reached out.

Sam, my wife and I are beyond sorry for you and your family. I really thought she would pull through. Having gone through this so recently we would not wish this experience on anyone. I am sure Rex will meet up with her, take a long walk around and show her the best spots in her new place. RIP Delilah.

Im sorry for your loss Sam..

Sam, I am so sorry. Tears in my eyes as I type. I hope your sons are doing OK. Very, very sorry to read this... No words.

So so sorry to hear. As a fellow dog lover, with 2 aging Australian Shepherds (14 and 11), I understand the bond and truly empathize with your loss.
May she RIP.

So sorry about your loss. I lost my wolf three years ago and I still miss him every day.
