Ok, we all watched Alex go to 220mph in 41 secs short 150hp according to Jason, so:
What is the theoretical top speed of a Twin Turbo GT?
What is the fastest recorded speed for a Twin Turbo GT?

I know with the Veyron at top speed, the tires only last 12 minutes, how do the Hoosiers hold up?

Its said to be in the 250's

Don's (DGCA) Hennessey Twin Turbo had a write-up in Car & Driver (I think) about pulling 235mph+.

I must have missed that issue, do you know when that was?

I know Peaks car did about 235 at Oscoda and I believe it was still accelerating. The tough part is to find a track long enough to really find vmax.

The tires won't be a problem because you'll never be able to drive those speeds for more than 60 to 70 seconds unless you rent Nardo.:willy

The highest ever recorded is the blue Hennessey car that went 235.4 mph (if I recall). Peak's car hit 231.9 mph at the C&D shootout.

Look for both of those numbers to get mashed into the ground at Rally IV.

p.s, on the tires, the factory Goodyears were tested to 226 mph but that is no guarantee what they will do for a significant period of time.

Eagerly, can't wait to see Ray's monster on the road. :wink

I'm looking forward to throwing down a 230+ speed myself at the Mile.

would love to find a 2 mile stretch to be able to crack the 250 mph barrier.

Yikes!

Jason, The Mile is a tough place to hit those speeds with a GT. If you have 1200 plus to the rear wheels and have favorable weather conditions (like I had) it may be possible to hit 230, but if the weather conditions are normal for that time of year in Goliad you'll be looking at high temps, high humidity and stiff head winds.

I wish you luck but don't make any $10000 bets with the Russians.:lol

if a stock GT can do 212mph with ~510rwhp, a 1200 rwhp GT would be theoretically capable of ~280mph with appropriate gearing.

Why is it that the tires will only last 12mins? Is that due to heat?

I guess, that's what they said at Volkswagon's test track when James May drove the Veyron to 253mph.

doesn't really matter because the gas will run dry in 10 minutes. :)

Has anyone tested the top end with a whipple supercharger and ford racing exhaust?
