to mod my gt or not that is the Q

No down side to clear bra.Th best product out there is EXPEL EXTREME.You can barely see it on your car.A must on all the leading edges the complete lower rockers behind the rear wheel arches etc.Pulley and tune is great .But you must have Torrie tune your car or bring to dyno and have tuned to your motor. Its the best bang in performance for your dollar. This is all my 02 for the record.Oreder the Project 21 products since they are doing another run.
No drilling for the Stillen mud flaps.Highly recommended !

ty bra and flaps for sure, I live by the gt guys and have called them going there soon

I think the GTX1 was the ultimate non returnable Mod, not sure but I don't think it hurt resale value.
Don't even get me started on that one...

Absolutely yes to mods. A pulley and tune will bring you right to the power level of pretty much anything on sale today.

I did:

Pulley/tune from the GT guys.
FRPP muffler
Short throw shifter
Trans oil cooler
Clear bra

Cosmetic things like the hot buttons and shifter trim rings.

Honestly, I don't ever see going backwards.

Resale is when you are on life support or in the ground. Mods are for when you feel like living! Life is too short & there are way better ways to make money than sitting on a GT.

FWIW when I was shopping I wanted a purely unmolested example so that I could mod it myself, which I have. I would have expected to pay less for a same mileage modded car.

But Ed and the others are right. The enjoyment of the available (usually reversible) mods far outweigh any delta in value.

We'll i bought my car for less because I convinced the dealer it would be a hard sell and all the time I was happier it had the mods because I knew I would do them anyway. I got at least $12k in mods for free and an additional $15k in savings. So the mods were free. I then added a whipple and a custom intake. My car will never be worth less than what I payed for it because I see salvage gts selling for 150k still. Mod it and have fun. Some buyers will pay more if they don't want to deal with not knowing how to get it done themselves. They will pay big money adding mods. if they can't do there own work. I would never let someone talk me down on the price because I had mods. There will always be another buyer so just don't sell it to the person who thinks he know more then you. In my case it worked because i grew up in the car business and I knew how to deal and got lucky they believed my buying lines that I have heard in reverse my whole life.:wink

Mods reduce collector car value

Originality is paramount

:agree:

Mods may lower the value, but they usually increase the enjoyment while you own it, EP excepted.

We'll if you got in while the prices were under $150k used with miles on it mod it. If you payed $200 plus then look at it as fun money. If you paid $300k your rich and money is not your problem so spend it on yourself. If you bought it new and put in a glass house for display you are not a car guy and you are a money investor that took a risk that paid off. I bought my car because I love boosted fords. This car was a dream car that I was lucky to get because I am not rich and do not have more money than I know what to do with. I only own one car that is a toy. I put most of my money I had down on this car and was lucky to have an insurance check from a race car I crashed and I had to decide to either buy a race car again or a street toy. I'm glad I own a modded for GT.

I have done so many mods, it is hard to keep track. As I'm not selling my car as long as parts are available and I am flexible enough to get in and out, it's all for enjoyment.
