The most expensive modification you can do to you FGT!

I hope you didn't pay a $15k registration fee in CA.? $1500 seems more like it... and I think I paid a $2500 gas guzzler tax... :confused

The 15K included the sales tax and you are probably right about the gas guzzler, as Reagan said "I don't recall."

Anders,

I remember talking with a few friends that shipped their GT's to Europe and they mentioned three separate taxes (totaling 40-50% of the car's market value), only one of which was the country's registration/licensing fee. The others had to do with custom's tariffs, etc. Did you have to pay that on top of the 61%? :eek

And I thought Arizonians had it bad!!!

When the car crosses the danish border, you pay a 10 % import toll based on purchase price + shipping + misc.

Then you pay a 25 % VAT of the above total.

Then when registering you pay approx 61 % of estimated marked value

Amazing information. I was in Copenhagen in August, saw a white/silver stripe Shelby GT in the city center. It was the only performance car I saw.

I understand the tax levels and the fact that Copenhagen is a fantastic city. Tax rates are off the wall. Interesting concept in the Scandinavian countries and Finnland. Concept of "free health care and education" stands completely independent of the fact they are taxed so high. Education and Health Care are "free" but the population pays for it by super high taxes, yet they don't acknowledge that paying the high taxes, is paying for Health Care and Education. Two separate items.

Anyway, get your FGT registered, take some images with it in front of Frederiksborg Castle and Kronborg Castle. I suspect not too many long highways to let it run in the country? Need a radar dectector???

Great country Denmark is!
