Temp Gauge runs cooler, when faster

I drove on Saturday for about 40 miles, with 85-90 Degree heat, after a full fill up.

Had to tool around at 30-40 around backroads for 15 min. before I hit highway doing 50-60 with traffic & up-incline abit; temps were climbing for first 20 miles at 200-210-215; a/c on medium. Dropped down to 200 very slowly.

Once, I got to open road and hit 80-90, Temps dropped down dramatically to 185; a/c on Low.

Day before drove in high 70s/low 80s at 65mph, and it was 165-170 for 15 mile trip.

Does the high pressure OR speed burst OR airflow OR stress (canyon, curves, hills) or trip length matter most in Temp readouts?

All fluids just checked.

Airflow is certainly #1.

I found it also drops when you run the air conditioning, for what ever reason?

If I recall correctly the fans kick in to high speed at 190 degrees instead of 200, unless it's tuned - then they do it without a/c:biggrin

I had wild temp readings that made no sense until I had the coolant lines vacuumed and refilled. Apparently I had air pockets within the system causing these strange temp readings. I now have much more normal and steady readings, more like I would expect. A special vacuum tool and the experience using it is necessary to fill the system correctly.

Now that you've passed along your knowledge on servicing the cooling systems, you'll have to let me know what type of hammer and pliers I'll need to install those Lambo doors. :wink

Now this was not fair as you are fully aware of the DIY procedures; oh well a portion of them have now been shared.

BlackIce; thank you for the confidence as shared.

All the best
