Takata airbag recall


Three Japanese automakers will recall more than half a million cars globally to replace air bag inflators made by Takata Corp (7312.T), bringing the total tally of Takata-related recalls across all brands to around 20 million since 2008.

Wow, this is really exploding (pun intended). Every week it gets bigger. Takata is history.

No, mine is Tim Cantwell's first blue no stripe car. The 2006. I believe he owns a 2005 blue no-stripe now.

And as was posted above, mine has vinyl stripes done at Elite.

IDK what this adds. Nothing has changed for GTs. Still between February 11, 2005, and January 30, 2006.
 
This announcement extended the recall from coastal areas only to nationwide. ALL Ford GTs built during those dates are now included.

I just checked the FordOwner web site and my car is now showing the 2 recalls where it did not yesterday.

Mine now shows too. Just driver side. Will be at the Ford Dealer for a Toys For Tots on Saturday so I'll drop in to the service department to see what they have to say.

I am a Ford Dealer and yes, all GT's are now effected and both driver and passanger airbags. Parts are available for now but don't wait if you are not wanting to wait long on parts.

So Mike, is there no build date qualifier? My late 2006 build car is not showing up as included as of today.
I think some info is pointing to only builds up through early 2006?
 
My understanding from my service manager is that all Ford GT's now are getting the airbag recall. They may be working through the vin #'s. My car is an 05 with the last four vin of 1599. If you want to contact me Monday, I will run your vin and see what Ford's system says.

Thanks for the info, Mike. Is it possible to get the parts from a dealer and have someone else install them or does it have to be done by a dealer tech?
