Shadowman Preparing his gal for another season

Don't want to speak for THE GT GUYS but I was there for their socalled training session to learn the door install.

I think Dennis and Rick would rather adopt a pit bull with aids.

However, I agree they are more than qualified to do the job.

ROFL.................... and I am still doing so

There is no doubt that Rich and Denis could handle this process in fact we have discussed it as recently as a week ago because they too have a couple folks that have asked them about them. I dare say that if the conversion was based on that which they were a party to early last year they would run away from it however based on the situation today I feel certain that they remain supportive of the process.

Yes; this is what I would consider a scope and magnitude project that when done right will appear as if there from day one; FYI the process in real time is approximaltey 40 hours to complete and this includes the anticipated secondary detail work however this is a project better not defined by how long but rather how nice as such it can take even more time to complete the process however having said this it is very easy to end up with a mess so if acquiring simply the hardware remains your quest I ask you to reconsider .............

IMO and at least for me it is not so much the associated risk because "blue tape" and a slow methodical approach remain my friend; it is more that there are numerous areas IMO that are far more than mechanical; they require a labor of love.

Now will there be more; I do not know however as shared several folks have contacted me as such I will continue the quest and update all as I garner new data points.

I think that they are awesome and yet as I have shared before I also understand and respect why all are not drawn to them.

I'm starting to feel a need to see how some black chrome spline drives from Derry would look on there.

Shadowman, your new wheels are absolutely beautiful. Is that a painted finish?

Enjoy!

Bill, who left the stock caps on the tanks:confused
Quick get the shadowman specials on those buggers:eek

I just noticed that the lead wheel weights stand out big time. Have to paint those black too.

:thumbsup

Shadowman, I would be interested in the doors as well!!

Love the powder coated wheels! :cheers

Alright

Thank you for the comments; the good...the bad...and the ugly

1. The finish is powder coating
2. The tank caps are OEM because I have been shipping to everybody else with my gal sitting at the back of the pack; she will have her set soon.
3. The weights; huuum.... I do not think that paint will hold up on lead as such over time I suspect that with paint coming off they would look terrible. I need to think about this one
4. The door system; so noted as I am working to see what can be done to make the system available because at this time there are none in the proverbial pipeline

Thanks again

Now here is my gal as she was opened up even further as I make her ready for this season

I hope that some enjoy seeing the gal in this condition; up close and personal it is a rather cool sight

It is indeed. I wish I had the room and the patience to do this myself. Thanks for posting pictures like this. Your motor pictures are fantastic too.

Looks great Shadowman. In addition to all of your great work your picture above is proof, once and for all, of the location of the fuel filler gasket for the next one who asks "is mine missing?" I got caught up in that as well and now have an extra.:bored
Keep up the great work - you inspire all of us do it yourselfers.:thumbsup

:cheers

Hey Bill,
Great job as usual. Lead will hold paint pretty well. Back in the day auto Mfgs use to use lead to fill may joints and seam and was easily painted over.
Also some of the best body repair guys will " lead in 'cars using lead to fill spots in lieu of body filler. I pulled an old spoiler off a car and leaded in the holes. Smoothed, sanded & painted and it's still good after 20 years... I painted my GT wheels weights and all...Love the Black on Black :thumbsup

I don't see they gas struts on your door conversion. Is this one of your mods?? Keep up the good work.. Thanks for sharing :thumbsup

Brian; thank you for the reminder of days gone past; you are correct as lead was the basis of correcting and in fact assembling bodies as such a good primer and paint will likely hold up fine; I may have to reconsider. Darn; just what I needed was yet another detail item to tend to

Now as for the strut; good eyes as I had the system taken off as I was tending to other items as well as the door system. I have just reinstalled the hardware as such I have another picture attached

BTW; your comments are both well received and appreciated.

All the best
