Roush builds a 374inch fgt motor with 11.5 compression, a sullivan intake and a 4150 throttle body style fuel injection. It has 4.350 crank and a 3.70 bore. Made peak power at 7800 and intake manifold was a choke point! It also was on Lp gas :cheers It also has custom roush valve train and cams .500+ lift. That is completly awesome!!!!!

how do you figure, there where whipple cars out last time making well over 720hp at the mile(and much more torque) that could not even get close to 200. there are only two whipple cars that I know of that ran the mile over 200(well three really:biggrin) one was making close to 800 hp and it did it with a tail wind that was increasing everyones speed by 7-8 miles per hour, And another that has been all over the net including super cars exposed, and that car I know made well over 850 hp with a whipple and it was meth injected. On a day with no tail wind it ran a 204 top speed at the mile. but it took every bit of 850 hp to get it there.

with very favorable conditions 710whp could get 200 in the standing mile.
cold air temps AND a tailwind.
my car did 195.5 with 610whp in 50 degree air temps and a 20-25 mph tailwind.
Well it would do 200 in the mile in 4th gear Soroush. Cause it will go 8000rpm+. @ 8500rpms a fgt will go 210 in 4th!!! Every 1000rpms is usaully about 30 mph depending in what gear.
Nope not one off. Its going in Jack's daughters car! You can buy it if you like and Roush compitition engines sells to the public. I just happen to know the top head and engine guy there. Sorry no pics, any data you'd like let me know and i could get it for ya. They've been using alot of technology from their daytona prototype motors in this stuff, Alot of custom parts. Heads have been spintron'd to 9500 with no valvetrain failure, with cams over .580 in which NO one currently runs in a fgt based application that see's any sort of miles besides drag stip.
Here a run down though, 4.350 crank/Luniati and Kellogg make these, billet rods, roush spec'd diamond pistons 11.5to1compression, Darton Big sleeve kit 3.700 bore. Roush cnc'd heads, custom valves and propritory material,custom valve train, Custom roush spec'd cams. In which they have not played with any cam timing adjustments on the dyno!! Roush custom timing adjusters and guides, also derived from Daytona Prototype stuff! It had a Sullivan Intake in which some of you may not know what that is but its a carburator style manifold set up for efi with a throttle body on top of it! It had over 3inches of vaccum under the throttle body on the pull close to 7800rpms, which means the manifold could not support enough air. So there is alot left on the table here yet!
Last month they dyno'd the same motor but with stock stroke and bore and it only made 620hp. So they picked up 100flywheel hp with 43cubic inches. My source says that another 35-50 hp is still left on the table here by going to gas and fixing the intake issue. I would say thats pretty impressive Na power!

Not trying to be a downer, but that does seem all that impressive for an exotic motor. Last naturally asperated small block Ford I build was 637.9hp and 580.7 TQ naturally aspirated with off the shelf parts. It was even built as a torque motor with smaller port heads and a medium range cam. Peak hp was at 6400. TQ at 2000rpm was already up to 450. With a decent lift cam, stoker crank and a 351W block you can get over 800hp all day.
Not with stock heads or block! Its takes a pretty killer Sbf to make 800+ like 400+cubes and a killer set of heads,Solid roller cam and race gas, plus not something that can't be driven every day!!! People don't realize that mod motors have only been impressive in boosted applications, Not na, there is not enough cubes to make Ls1 power Na or Sbf Pushrod NA power. You were limited to 331 or 281cubes, You can only make so much power with the ci.

I would agree that the numbers are impressive if its a motor that can be daily driven, but with peak HP at 7800 rpm makes me think its pretty radical. I would be real interested in what the vacuum is at idle. Also whats the price? I have a feeling a killer set of SBF heads are cheap compared to what Roush wants for this engine. Also I do not understand why they are going backwards? Whats wrong with boost? Thats the beauty of the mod motors. I would understand not wanting forced induction in an offroad racing situation, but for a street car or anything on pavement I think everything should have a blower!

R&D is normally a good thing! Guess it would be useful for competitions that restrict forced induction.

Once it has been tested with a supercharger and twin turbos or just twin turbos then I might be interested. Reliabilty testing at 1000-1400 hp is what I'm interested in.

If I'm not mistaken, this would be a drag race engine. Tons of class rules in which to fit a NA motor. That would also explain the high RPM HP peak. I would venture a Guess that at those RPM's, This motor has a shorter life as well. My 600 ci shifts at 8000 but I wouldn't want to stay there all day.
