Rally 8 Scheduled September 3-7, 2013

Hhahhaa, that's awesome. We need to do a coordinated fire up :)

Do any of you guys use FRS radios during these cruises?

Every year I mean to, every year I forget. I've probably got 15 old ones laying around I'll remember to bring this year.

The parking fee is $15/night. Yes, many of us bring our FRS radios just to curse at each other over the airwaves, but I've found the drivers to be radio challenged (naming names - DBTGT, Grey Ghost, Spirit, IndyGT, Lightning, Silverbullit, HiloDave, Rocketman). They usually don't work too well as spread out as we get and the funny terrain. Pack em in the car when you ship it. The guys that have mechanical problems on the road usually don't have them (i.e. DriveBy).

...When I started up Ed's GT in the garage it was enough to wake the dead. When we fire up several dozen at once...I hope the rest of the hotel guests are car fans. :lol

Uh-oh....

Maybe I should park outside....

I wouldn't sweat it. If someone is bummed about dozens of them being started in a garage, being out of the garage won't make much difference. :lol

Frank, if you didn't fall so far behind, the radios might reach better. ;)

Frank, Sue and I will be at the back of the pack with you. We don't have to be First to the top of the mountain as I have told Dave and Chip. Forget the radios .

Uhh no .... you can be the one "giving the signal" for the other 70 FGTs to start :)

Has any additional info become available regarding truck/trailor parking close to the Inn?

Not yet. I won't be there until Monday, but I'll be there until I can find a suitable spot to safely store them.

DBK......Have you had any luck with the trailer storage issue ?

I believe the last DBK stated was that has storage worked out about 20 or so from the Fairmont but could have/find something closer before the rally begins. He also said that he will be back in Sonoma in less than 2 weeks going over everything. I am assuming he give an update during or immediately following this trip.

Sounds good !...thanks....

Cobraguy, I got a couple locations from the Sonoma Visitors Bureau that are a little closer that I'm going to inspect in a couple weeks. Will let you know what will work best.

Perfect... I'll wait to hear from you.....I really appreciate your efforts!

Bummed and disappointed

I was so looking forward to the Northern California rally, but unfortunately, it will be the first rally I must miss. My son and daughter in-law are expecting their first baby (a boy, and second grandchild for me!) the week of the rally, and my wife is scheduled for a medical procedure during the same time-frame as the rally. I would be a total bum in my family's eyes if I took off for a week thousands of miles away. I'll miss seeing everyone!

We'll miss you too, Tim. But, family comes first, that's for sure! I missed last year, as it was scheduled so late that I was worried about snowfall and getting home. Sure enough, it snowed the 1st day of the rally.

Congrats on the new grandbaby to come, and I hope everything works out well for the wife.

Hope to see you in the near future. A special "hello" to Garrett!

Ralphie

Tim, congrats on the impending birth and you will be missed!

Will miss you too, Tim, and your son and whatever toy(s) you would bring. Enjoy your new grandbaby....it's happening to a few of us. What a blessing.

If you had to miss a rally - at least it is not one with track days. I don't know what I would do without you as my track instructor extraordinaire (would be maybe the 4th year in a row I was lucky to have you give me pointers while riding shotgun!)

Oh, so the on-site doctors aren't good enough for you now? Party at Cantwell's for his penance.
