Pulled over this morning in Scottsdale at 6:50am..WTF

A long time ago I got introduced to the local Sheriff Captain at the 4th of July BBQ. He gave me a his card and I stuck it behind my Drivers License. When the DL comes out the officer can see the card which then turns the dialogue to a pleasant exchange other than DL & Registration please.
My advise, if there is a local Leo fund raiser, attend, exchange pleasantries and business cards with the chief ....

I don't know if any city/state compares to Irvine, CA. The cops in my old city (recently moved to Costa Mesa) were absolutely ridiculous. In my old truck I was only ever pulled over when I was not moving. The two times that I was pulled over in that truck I was sitting at the red stop light waiting for the light to turn green. An Irvine motorcycle cop would pull next to me and I'd watch them look all over the truck and start jotting down all the "violations" in their minds. Light would turn green and their lights would turn blue and red! Actually the first time I pulled up to the stop light and the bike cop was two lanes over from me. He actually pulled out into the cross walk, rode in front of everyone, pulled in behind me and waited for the light to turn green. Then he pulled me over the second the light turned on. The only part of that truck that was "illegal" were the tinted windows and the tires stuck out slightly past the fenders (it was 4.5 inches wider per side because it had a long travel front suspension system on it.) Other than that, every single part of the truck was legal.........somewhat......to the untrained eye.........OK not really but still, I WAS SITTING AT STOP LIGHTS BOTH TIMES!!!!
Here washington state they use unmarked car,suv and vans. They used to have SWP on the license plates, not any more.You really have to watch and look close when passing anyone.

Why don't you remove the dark tinted windows and install some lighter tint. That very dark tint is dangerous at night . You can't see around a corner at night with dark tint, you can't see pedestrians or traffic coming from the side, etc. Why would you want to taunt the cops unnecessarily? Same with the tires that are too wide. Why push your luck when you know it's illegal? I don't get it. Life is much more enjoyable, simpler, and safer if you obey the laws.
Awsum - does this mean you always drive the speed limit? Do you have a front license plate? Etc? We all break some laws sometimes. It doesn't make you a criminal.

Sorry. Not trying to imply he is a criminal, just making a suggestion to make his life simpler and save some court costs. Why invite problems you can easily avoid. It's the same as not going to bars where fights break out all the time. Why take a chance of getting knifed or shot?
Don't need front license plates in FL and yes, I always drive the speed limit except accidently sometimes when I'm not paying attention. I go fast on the track not on city streets. I guess I'm just boring and I agree with Bony.

Egg-zackly ... except for that front 'plate garbage! :lol As long as EVERYBODY is required to have have one - AND THERE'S A FACTORY PROVISION FOR ONE - fine. But, if SOME people are NOT required to have one - it's a violation of the equal protection clause to force the rest to do so. And regardless, by the gods on Mt. Olympus, I REFUSE to drill holes in a $200K car to mount a front plate when there ARE NO FACTORY MOUNTING HOLES provided to do so - law or no law...whether constitutional or NOT.

Many cities, including mine, use these as Crime Scene vehicles or SWAT vehicles. Our 2010 Tahoe (pursuit rated, BTW) has enough firepower in back to start WWIII.
A normal squad "car" gets quite small after you put in all the radios, computers, guns, lights, etc, that are required for LEO to do their job.
'Not the case here though. The units have nothing more in them than any other patrol unit. :cheers
Are you sure? Certainly a SWAT vehicle does not advertise
All I can tell you is I walked right past one of them in the pking lot of a local restaurant a few months ago and looked inside "just because". And, like I mentioned, it had nothing in it that any other patrol car doesn't.
Now, that said, I HAVEN'T had occasion to actually see inside the other one! BUT, it DOES look identical from the outside. And neither unit has any special markings of any kind. Not even a "K-9" decal.

I've driven with Bony. He never drove the speed limit. When I was with him he would not weave through traffic or dirve unsafely; but, I tell you, we never dropped below 80mph on the freeway.
Also, it's a rare person that drives exactly the speed limit on the freeway.

I guess I'm too cheap to drive faster than 70 on the freeway, in fact, I usually set the cruise control at 69. My gas milage goes way down once I get above 70. It's also more relaxing driving the speed limit. You don't have to change lanes constantly to pass or brake and then accelerate again. I find it's much more relaxing to watch others pass you and check out their cars/trucks.
I have noticed that people in the large cities drive much faster than they drive here in the back woods. In the case were "everyone" is driving 10-20 mph over the speed limit, it's safer to go with the flow so you don't get rearended or cause the traffic to back up which isn't safe either. I think in CA there is a law that says you must speed up to match the speed of the majority of drivers even if it is above the posted speed limit. I remember many, many, years ago when I was 17, I was driving an 18-wheeler through CA doing the speed limit and a police officer drove up beside me and motioned me to drive faster. I was skeptical and nervous that maybe I didn't understand his hand signals correctly, but I speeded up, and he didn't ticket me. Later I was told that's CA law. Still don't know if that is correct. I never did call them to verify it.
Have you guys noticed you can get better fuel mileage by not using the cruise control?

Ok, I am pulling out of my garage tonight to take a twilight stroll. As soon as I turn right to exit my driveway I see a County cop blocking my driveway. First thoughts:
1 .Front plate?--no I bought the tow plate
2. Heffner exhaust too loud?
3. Have one of my kids done something dumb?
I stop and get out of the car. He rolls down the window and says "don't see many of those, I was just roaming and heard you pulling out." I said no, you don't see many of these (in Richmond). I thought to myself don't you have something better to do and since you are blocking my driveway, is this false imprisonment? But being a lawyer and having defended cops and been on the other side I was polite and told him I appreciated his interest. He waved and moved on.
The other day I was at Wawa getting coffee and 3 cops confronted me at the door, one pulled out his keys and said, "want to trade??" I said "I would have more fun." He said "want to bet" I said " have you ever seen the Hangover?" All 3 laughed--they had.

...now, do you suppose having a "Lawyer Onboard" bumper sticker would HELP you or HURT you in various traffic situations wherein a LEO may get/be involved? :lol
