Here is an interesting car that showed up at a car show in Houston Today. A porsce with a LS1 corvette engine. Did not get to hear it run, but looks sort of neat. Some one said he patented the kit and is selling them.

'Not really my cuppa tea.

I'd seen this done before.

Met a fellow at C&C in Las Vegas earlier this year. His company does this conversion only on 930's. Very clean and neat install. Chev motor "almost bolts right in", trans adatpter plate needed and some wiring re-routes. And was told it weighs less the the Turbo Porsche motor to boot.

And it doesn't sound German.

Sanjay,

Talked with the Vrami today and had hoped you and Soroush would be out. His car show has grown a ton. Maybe 50+ cars there today.

Geez, how don't see how a 6 can hang behind the rear axle let alone a heavier V-8. The handling has to be a handful!

I wonder where the car's COG is now and how much that changes its lateral accel picture, etc.?

Now that would be a handful on the track. There is soooo much more weight in the rear.... it would have to be very tail happy!

The V-8 is said to weigh less than the 930 engine and have more power. I followed a V-8 powered 930 for a lap at Spring Mountain Raceway a few months ago and it hauled ass! It did not appear to be a handful in the corners or down the straights. Mrs. Apollo was riding with me when we ran him down in my TTGT. He apparently was not use to being passed as he never gave me a signal to go around him so I followed for a full lap before pitting. The V-8 930 appeared to be a well sorted and very capable car and the owner raved about it.

If Porsche's 2.4L - 3.6L flat 6's aren't a lot lighter than a 5.7L V8... man, somthin' is wrong. But, I just noticed where it is an LS1 which does mean an aluminum block and heads, so maybe not the diff I thought :biggrin

Here's a company that has been cramming Chevy V8's in 911, 914, 944, and 928's for a long time. I drove one of their 914 conversions with a NASCAR V8 and it handled "okay". The big V8's have so much torque and would twist the windshields of older Porsches right out of its frame if the frame hasn't been strengthened.

The Porsche pictured is a 80's Targa. You would think they would have chosen a coupe. I can't imagine an aluminum 6 with turbos being heavier than an aluminum 8 with supercharger and adapter plate. Nevertheless, a nice looking install.

They put LS series engines in almost anything. Seen them in BWM Z3's or Z4's (cannot remember), RX-7's, Fiero's, and others I cannot remember at the moment all the others.

They put em in Miatas for god's sake!

Also seen 'em in e46 Ms

Toy Jet (Clemon Prevost) lives here in Texas City, Texas and works at the BP plant here. He is a very interesting person (engineer) and is a true Auto Guy on fabricating and SPEED. I know him very well and his Porshe is straight line deadly fast. He makes a lot of shows and draws a lot of attention with his creation. He does have a patent on his cooling system which is quite elaborate as it is built into the wing on top. He's quite well known around the USA as to his conversion and it is built for straight line speed. If any interest he can be reached at [email protected]. Clemon does a lot of work in High schools in the area showing kids how to make something out of your dreams. Great Guy. Tomy Hamon
