The transition to new automotive powertrains.

Some auto manufacturers take the approach of forcing you into the technology via government subsidies and regulation (threat). Here an OE takes the route of preparing you for the journey by producing tantalizing performance.

Kudos Porsche! Nice lap time too! :thumbsup

Read about this, last night. Pretty amazing. I had completely forgotten how long the last record stood. I totally am in the camp that lap times can not be compared when times are not made on the same day etc etc etc... BUT this is irrefutable that this car kicked the s--- out of the last record.

Congrats to all involved.

Sit back and watch on a big screen. It won't take long. A little over 5 minutes. You'll swear the video has been artificially sped up. I got a little car sick sitting in my chair. 230 mph on the final straight.

Unreal! Unreal car. Unreal driver. Wow! Smooth is fast and that driver has complete car control throughout the entire lap. Never once saw him "lose it" and have to jinx the wheel for a correction. Congrats to Porsche.

That is amazing! The car has amazing grip as shown by not even dropping down in the Karousel. Whew!

Wow

Definitely the most bonkers in-cockpit video ever recorded.

That was a hell of a drive, regardless of the car. Anyone know what an LMP1 car can do at the 'Ring?

Pete,

(head knock)! I was thinking it was a 918... Well, that answers the question.

Bloody He** that is fast. The skill to travel at that speed is impressive to say the least. Congratulations P!

With a few modifications (,,,,that they have owned up to..lol,,,)

The Evo is Porsche’s retired Le Mans winner, freed of all World Endurance Championship restrictions. It’s turned up to around 1200bhp and has 50 per cent more downforce than the 2017 LMP1 car it’s based upon, and it deploys active aero and clever torque vectoring. Stuff Porsche would have loved to have fitted during its racing career if pesky rules hadn’t got in the way.

Congratulations Porsche!

Wasn't it a Can-Am race car that had the old record

Driver extraordinaire, holy cow!

The prior record was set in a Rothmans liveried 956, the same livery worn by one of Porsche’s RSR Le Mans entries this year. Nicely done Porsche.

The Rothman livery is great, but that 91 car played dirty at Le Mans, literally pushing one of the GTs off track

Yeah, I wish the GT had the Ben-Hur chariot wheel hub extension.
