So now we've got this lightweight innovative high tech Gorilla glass and that got me thinking. How far is Ford going to go with this lightweighting process how extreme will they get?

What other innovations will we see? Ford has a close relationship with Alcoa. Alcoa developed some exclusive extrusions for our GT. Alcoa has been transforming into a specialty alloys company.

They are now one of the largest titanium fastening companies in the world. They recently landed two billion dollar plus contracts with Airbus and the US government to supply fasteners to the F 22s.

Alcoa has even a stronger relationship with Ford now supplying aluminum for the trucks. I would think this could lead to some good contract leverage for high volume low cost titanium fasteners for the new GT.
I would think lugnuts / lugbots, brake caliper bolts and some of the heavier suspension bolts and bolts through out the car could be obviously titanium options.

I would think titanium exhaust would also be by an option at this point. Looking at the Mclaren 675 LT has a lot of titanium , including an exhaust.

It's going to be interesting the amount of carbon fiber bits and titanium items that will show up in the car. How about some CF wiper blade arms.. now that's a commitment to going on a diet !!
This is getting more exciting by the day!!! :pop:pop

Agreed. I don't believe this GT will be as heavily modified as ours are. It already will have it all.

What no ideas yet ?? and please do not suggest helium in the tires !! :biggrin oh and while on the subject of tires I hope they are not run flats.. stiffer side walls, harsher ride and adds weight !!

Li-ion battery if it hasn't got one already.

I've got a couple ideas. :biggrin

Please convert them into a post we can read.

No Mac & that goofy speaker for one thing.

Dropping 25 pounds at the gym would probably be the least expensive.

:agree: Already on it! :lol

Carbon fibre dual maxi size cup holder ?

NO LED lights in any air intakes ;)

Why not carbon fiber wheels?

I think it has a Braille battery. IDK how far they can go with strategic metals, but titanium is possible with very limited production.

Looking for much greater reduction in engine size (and therefore weight) making possible further lightening of structural components.

New ways of eliminating heat without liquids, and reduce the weight of liquids that are needed.

Lots of weight will eventually be taken out of tires.

Big weight savings when drivers are no longer needed.

Getting rid of the plywood skid plate on the bottom of all the doors. Replace with a carbon composite material that resists wear. Although I'm certain that has already been accomplished. This GT is going to be epic!
