Official October 2010 Texas Mile thread

I highly doubt they will check the speed rating.

If they do, just run by my trailer and we can bolt my tires on your car then go get it re-tech'd. I'll be in a white Freightliner RV. Red GT out front (should be a few GT500's along side). I am going to try and park toward the big end close to all the other GT's..

If I can get away from my office I am going to fly my Glasair down on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning to cheer my fellow GT owners on to the first 230mph run. (Superman Ray does not count!). I wish they would let me land on one of the other runways at Goliad. Where is the next closest private airport?

Chip

You want me to text Shannon (mile organizer) to see if she would let you land? Worth a try.

Mullet, you better hit 230 or get darn close.

Good luck to everyone running. I probably won't come down this time.

Pretty sure Beeville has an airport. Its right outside Goliad.

If anyone needs numbers for the side of their car the guy that is doing mine can make some for you too.

PM me your number. He will deliver them earlyish Friday or I might be able to bring them down on Thursday.

Ryan and I are looking forward to seeing everyone!!! We fly into San Antonio Thursday evening and we will see if y'all are sitting around the MH's cook'n smores or if you're calling it early!

Weather update from Weather.com

Fri/Sat/Sun have 30% chance of T Storms. Mid 80's and mid to low 60's at night.

It also looks like we will have a cross or headwind of 8-11 mph ( or higher considering the wind is always higher on the airfield than around the area).

230

Jason,

It looks like I'll still be working with Charley on his College App essays and I don't want to make arrangements I might not use. I'll see how it goes this week. After you go 230 I want you to call me! :thumbsup Good luck buddy!!

Just listen for a loud wooooohooooo at your place. That will be me. ;)

If you can get away come by for a day.

Chip, the other runway is active for general aviation. You should be able to land and take off from there no problem.

Ahhh..after a long time of lurking, the account finally got validated lol

Anyways just wanted to wish ya'll a good luck down there. Not a GT driver just a poor grad school student and huge fan haha. Was down there last October watching the likes of mullet and a few others. Heres hoping the weather holds up, been looking forward to this weekend for a year now lol

The weather forecast keeps getting better and better with each passing day. See you all on Thursday.

Best of luck to everyone this weekend. I can't wait to see the results. :cheers

Have a great time everyone! Looking forward to the updates!

Just got an email from Jessica. The other runway is closed to all fixed wing aircraft. Bummer for you chip.

Does that imply that a helicopter would be OK?

They usually have a helicopter there doing pictures. I wonder if they are going to use the other runways for the cars?
