Non-Rally guys

This week was probably the roughest in the last 15 years at work ... the bright spot .. this is a father/son weekend. So we both decided this morning after both being blue about missing the "real" rally that we would have our own. So we rolled 1161 out of the garage bright and early .. rolled into town to have a sitdown breakfast of doughnuts and milk ... then went on a 25 mile cruise up Route 66 windows down listening to the exhaust rattle off the trees as we rolled down the mother road.

Then back to the house and out came the "mini" GT's We had a couple GTX-1's show up, a Shelby, a race car and a ton of Dr. Franks favorite color ... even had a black no stripe show up!!!

Attached are the photos ... sorry for the cellphone but someone hyped up on sugar and a drive in the GT would barely slow down. :biggrin

Next year .. Rally in Texas ... we're both there. :thumbsup

I had one of the best times of my life at Rally III. I met some of the greatest people.

However, if I was to miss another Rally, I would do exactly what you did. Playing with my son with all the mini GT's I could find. What a great day that must have been.

I hope to bring my son to the next Rally.

tpraceman,
Unlike Woodstock ,there will be a rally next year !!! Not to worry , do the next one !!!
I think the race gas will help !!!

I Love the smell of race gas in the morning:

An informal "family picnic" day during one of the next Rallys would be cool!!!

Chance for all the kids to meet...I pondered how to bring my family in on the rally, but don't have a trailer and didn't want to show up sans GT.

Rally III was awesome. I didn't think Rally II could be topped, but I have a feeling that each successive Rally will just keep getting better and better. The owners we have now, are here to stay and turnover will be very small.

:thumbsup

Ok everyone highjacks my threads,,,,,,,it's always the rally III guys.........

I want to hear from some Lonley broken hearted Non-Rally guys or some Rally guys want to make us feel better by telling tales of not so pleasent things..........

I feel your pain dude !!!! :wink

Let's arrange a rally for the guys who could not make the rally and then posts stories about how great it was. ahhhh sweet revenge! :bored

I think I might post a gun thread to make myself feel better. :lol

+1

Try being in Vegas less than a week after the damn Rally ends. :frown Did have a great weekend and I am pretty much over it. Picking up my car tomorrow and get 150 mile drive home to play with the pulley upgrade. :thumbsup That should be the final nail in the "mourning missing the Rally" coffin. On to Rally IV!! :cheers

For therapy, my prescription would be:

North on US 95 to Lida Junction;

West on SR(CA & NV) 266 & SR(CA) 168 to Big Pine (over 3 passes - Lida, Gilbert & Westgard);

and then, either

North on US 395 to Sonora Junction (over 4 passes - Sherwin, Deadman, Conway & Devils Gate) and west on SR(CA) 108 to Sonora (over Sonora Pass)

or

North on US 395 to Lee Vining (over 2 passes - Sherwin & Deadman) and west over SR(CA) 120 (and SR 140? or SR 41) through Yosemite National Park (over Tioga Pass) to either Modesto/Manteca, Merced or Fresno

If you like curves, these are the best. :driving:

If you want to come to Missouri I can take you on a lovely drive through the Ozark mountains the leaves are getting ready to change and usually are quite beautiful.

For that matter if anyone would like to take me up on that I would be happy to arrange a weekend event for a few owners. It would give me an excuse to finally meet one of our forum members who lives down there.

Hey Ralphie, can I use your picture and tell people that's MY car in the park? Thanks, another proud RED car owner!

Nice pics Ralph !!

Great pics, we are blessed with some great country, that is LoveCHP's AWSUMGT's and my backyard.

Nice route you laid out Ralphie.

I didn't get to go to the Rally, I did get to stay home and watch the SLOW progress on my home reno, I did get to watch a portion of my house get inundated with water (STILL drying - UGH!!), and I did get to read about the GREAT time all the rally attendees got to have. So yeah, I'm a bit bummed out. :frown

So I went for a drive. It's autumn and the leaves are starting to turn. Beautiful! And a GT drive always seems to bring the smiles back, not just for me, but for all the other cars and all the pretty girls. :banana

Got these pics from my friend Adam Fick. He's got some photo skills :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup Hope they bring a smile to your faces too!

Haven't been for a "ride" since Rally III and was thinking of dropping over to the "Valley Floor" tomorrow - however, when I was there in August on the way to Monterey, they were resurfacing the road there - Anyone know if it's been completed? Would be pretty now that the Aspen leaves are starting to turn.

Maybe I'll just call over there....

Update:

∙ Southside Drive in Yosemite Valley, including vehicle access to Cathedral Beach, Sentinel Beach, and Swinging Bridge Picnic Areas, will be closed for road work from September 2 through October 30.

∙ Northside Drive east of El Capitan is open to two-way traffic for access to eastern Yosemite Valley.

∙ Brief delays (due to construction) are possible when entering/exiting Yosemite Valley
---------------------------------------------
Damn, guess I'll try for another location
