Ok now that we have all read the several "Rally" posts.....

Just how bad do you feel this week?????????

I have tried drinks gallons of coffee-watching comedy-doing honey do's-posting.....but I am still walking around like a Zombie, stubbing my toes and sulking:frown:frown:slap

Something has to shake this post rally blues:confused

OK, so I'm not stumbling around in a stupor, but I'm still feelin' pretty low about not being able to be there. In fairness, I just got my GT and the rally was pretty much booked out by the time I could clear my calendar. But still, sure wish I was there. And I'm pretty bummed about the fact that I wasn't.

OTOH, I'm already clearing my calendar for next year. My buddy just got a black GT, so I'm making sure he's able to come as well. We'll have our cars hauled to whereever, get the GF's and fly out for a week of frovility and driving fun!!! OK, I'm getting excited about Rally IV already, and I don't even know where/when it is!!!!

But I'm still down about missing this one. Different blues, same pain.

Go for a drive. :banana:banana:banana It's the only cure. :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup Just ask any of us poor "non-rally" attendees.

At the risk of sounding like Bill Clinton ... I feel your pain.

Got caught with a work conflict ..... missed some good times with great friends... but nothing saying we can't hang out in between rallies. :wink

How about a regional "I missed the Rally ... rally"?

The members could make me feel better by posting more pictures :biggrin

There must have been more pictures taken by other members? If so please post :banana

Dropped my car off for the pulley upgrade/yearly maintenence yesterday in So. Cal. and chatted with Kendall a bit about the Rally. I have never been to a car Rally of any type (never considered it before buying the GT) so my views are simply as an interested observer. Came up with three conclusions in talking/corresponding with a few attendees.

First, Vegas sounded like a unique and almost perfect place for the Rally because as a city there is not only plenty to do and great places to drive, but they have the ability to house everyone's car in a safe, easily accessible area that became a central meet and greet location. I have heard this more than once that the parking garage was like an informal Rally central where there were always a few people milling around working, detailing and talking about their cars. That is amazing considering there were 125+ GT's. It will be hard to duplicate that perfect storm of scenarios that made Vegas so good and so appealing to everyone as a destination. I understand the desire to move the Rally around to other locales, but I would almost suggest an every other year return to Vegas....there is another track there or set-up of last track could be changed.

Second, obviously attendance is getting bigger every year and this may not be a prime issue, but having the Rally run mostly over the weekend might also increase attendence. A lot of us have jobs that make it difficult to get away during the "meat" of the week. Swinging Thurs-Monday or Friday to Tuesday might make some people like myself attend as much as we could instead of saying....I can only make a day and a half, why bother. Also this thing seems to be growing each year and in listening/corresponding with this years attendees I would add in this recommendation. Take it a little more upscale. We all have GT's and are willing to pay for quality. Charge a little more and go for the dazzle treatment. This is not a criticism as I was not there and I know how hard it is to organize big events. The Forum always does a fantastic job of providing a quality event for a very reasonable price to us. From what I have heard about all three Rally's is that they have gotten progressively better each year. And that has to do with the most awesome group of passionate owners the world has ever seen. :thumbsup:thumbsup to everyone who worked so hard to make this the best Rally ever. You have set a high bar and I am just relaying an outsider/never been to a Rally persons opinion. Any event can be improved and if people have realistic ideas on what would make it better I would be curious to hear them. :cheers

Third, I like DP's idea :thumbsup of a Regional Rally in between the big National Rally. Great minds (or slightly insane ones :confused) think alike. I brought that exact topic up to Kendall yesterday. I don't know how that would work, but if anyone has suggestions I would love to kick the idea around with the group. I really guess it depends on the area you live. Obviously there are a lot of GT's out here (West Coast) so it could be relatively easy to pick a location that would encompass a lot of GT's and be within an easy 400 mile driving radius. Just a thought.

That said I am going to Vegas tomorrow and it is the first time ever that I am not particularly excited about it. I know that will change once I am there (that place always perks me up :biggrin) but I know there will be the afterglow of GT glory in the air still and I can't say that I am not a little sad that I missed it. Would have love to have put together some faces and names. :cheers

After the rally experience I had , Life will never be the same !!!.
As I told my wife and friends better than any race I ever won !!!
You really have to have been there to really understand it .
I asked others who have done rallies 1, 2, if the other rallies were this good ?
OH YA !!!!

besides missing the rally

2.) and believe it our not my dog died yesterday :frown

MAD sorry to hear about your dog. We treat our three dogs like furry children around the 'Rex household. My oldest, named Rex :biggrin, is turning 15 and I keep telling him he has to fight it out to at least 20. Definitely a rough week all around. :cheers

Sorry about your dog. A month ago, my neighbor lost her husband to cancer, the very next morning, his dog of 14 years passed away. A loss is a loss. All the best to you.

BTW, my front left signal keeps going on the fritz, last time it did, I went outside and banged the headlight assembly and it works fine now. Reminds me of my Dad's old Hilman. It must must be a British thing.

So sad to hear about the passing of your pet, I know how bad that hurts.
Take good care Mike.
God Bless,
daniel

Mikey, on the brighter side, Todd showed up and was in great form. Didn't get to talk to him much cause he was at the track, but Spirit spent quite some time. He's doing good and was sorry you were such a piece of female anatomy and preferd work to a great GT getogether. You can get a new dog, but it is a loss. Prowler brought the Lewinsky's and we had a great time without you. Ha,Ha, Ha, Ha.

One very cool thing I saw from the Rally that I forgot to mention was the terrific information sheet that the lifetime members were given that had all the details about their cars. Everything from date of manufacture to how many GT's were built the same day as yours, the number your GT was not only in the total scheme of things, but the number for that day (ex. your GT was 11 of 15 GT's produced on xxx date) right down to the smallest details like serial numbers of your original tires. I would love to get something like that on my car and frame it and put it into the garage. If any one knows how to buy an info sheet like that please let me know.

:bang:bang:bang:bang (man missing the Rally stinks.....need to grab a couple cold ones when I get to Vegas tonight.....grumble....on the wrong dates) Take a deep breath. Okay I feel a little better. :lol

THat is just terrible about your dog.

On the bright side Frank got his holders but I have not heard anyone coment on them so maybe we just save so $$$:rofl Just kidding if stormcat made them I know they are great.

Have not heard from Kirby and MK2 or the Stillen boys......
Hey super stars what were you guys feelin while missing the party

Mini-me .. mini rally

This week was probably the roughest in the last 15 years at work ... the bright spot .. this is a father/son weekend. So we both decided this morning after both being blue about missing the "real" rally that we would have our own. So we rolled 1161 out of the garage bright and early .. rolled into town to have a sitdown breakfast of doughnuts and milk ... then went on a 25 mile cruise up Route 66 windows down listening to the exhaust rattle off the trees as we rolled down the mother road.

Then back to the house and out came the "mini" GT's We had a couple GTX-1's show up, a Shelby, a race car and a ton of Dr. Franks favorite color ... even had a black no stripe show up!!!

Attached are the photos ... sorry for the cellphone but someone hyped up on sugar and a drive in the GT would barely slow down. :biggrin

Next year .. Rally in Texas ... we're both there. :thumbsup
