Dear Sweet Lord God Sister Mary mother of Pearl! NEVER in my life have I been in love with a car as much as I am with the Ford GT.
Unfortunately, judging from the pictures and some of the houses in back drops; it appears that I may have fallen into the wrrrrroooonnnngggg tax bracket. (Please humor me if you are reading this post from your Gulfstream.)
But as fate may have it, even though I come from modest means, and earn an equally modest income. I do now find myself in a position where I can possibly pull the trigger on a Ford GT. But before doing so, I would like to ask a few questions from you Pros out there.
I am curious as to what others feel is going to happen to the GT as far depreciation is concerned? Is this car going to be worth more in a few years, or nose dive?
(I would really like to buy a used one, pay cash, drive it for a year or so, and resell it.)

Are all GT’s the same? What should I look for in a car?

Who insures these cars? Costs associated?

If any of you folks would care to share some of your insights with me. I would be most grateful!

Cheers,

Search is your friend.:wink

Most people that buy this car usually hold on to it longer than a couple years, but in your situation, I dont think you would lose too much. Ferrari would be a better way to go since the resale holds very well, unless you plan to put some miles on it.

Prices are climbing back up, so buy one as soon as possible. You may find that you may want to keep it a little longer.:biggrin

This seems to be a very good price on a rare color. This is the asking price so shoot lower. I don't mean rare as in most rare but as percentage. I know if you search out other threads here you will find all of the info you want w/o having to wait for our responses. Good luck.:cheers

Your opening comments are interesting as they are similar to those I have heard from far too many for years.

I can still remember my first Ferrari and having folks say “damn it must be nice” to which I finally started pointing to the Prancing Horse on her nose and would say “no you are missing the boat as the name says Ferrari not Shadowman” he built the cars; it is his name on her nose and they are accessible for who ever wants them. It is simply a matter of how much one wants any given item, some spend there time on there sofa dreaming, sitting in the bar, imbibing their favorite means of relaxation, while others simply put their clothes on every day and thrash through the myriad of obstacles presented to all of us on any given day and create their own destiny.

Now this in no way diminishes the fact that for many it is very hard whereas for others it seemingly comes easy nevertheless converting ones dream into reality will forever be up to the individual in the very same way as one’s dream will forever be their own.

Your assessment of the gals as being fricken stunning is spot on and as for whether we will all awake tomorrow with their value being in the toilet is any ones guess however I suspect that most did not purchase nor do they own these gals because of what they might be worth but rather because they complete for them one of their dreams.

I would say that if this is your dream and you have the means then pull the trigger and enjoy the ride but I would also say that if owning her is to become a cause for financial pressure then forgo it for the time being. Never would I encourage leveraging oneself emotionally or financially regarding such a decision if profit at the end is even a consideration. I always say that it cost to play and in this arena it can become very expensive very quickly. I lived through and owed exotic gals during their hay day and then I also lived and owned them through some of the darkest moments and when I reflect back I have absolutely “NO” regrets.

Work hard and smart always with a short term carrot in front of you and a long term goal and before you know it you will experience your dream. Sadly most people loose focus and begin living as if in a whirlpool or state of flux and never find their way out.

All the best

Shadowman

School or 3 Jobs.

Fathers advice: you want nice cars, get straight A's or get 3 jobs.

My take today is education is necessary to raise ones income; if that is not available brutal hard work will get you there or further.

My brother had 3 jobs: 6am-12pm, 1-6, and 7-12am. He did it for 5 yrs, and is doing quite well. Lives in $1M home with an '07 Tahoe.

Its sorta of amazing in the USA, most cities actually have enough jobs so someone could indeed have 3 jobs....if he is willing to work.

Problem is most can't stand even 1 job.

As many of you know, I'm still learning American. What's an 07 Tahoe? Is it a type of female?

Thanks

Neil, it depends on which part of the USA you're from on how you pronounce the word Tahoe; but just so you don't lose sleep over it, think big Chevy SUV.

Nah, that is the small Chevy SUV, a shortened version of the Suburban and a Suburban is only as big as a full size pickup. For big get a crewcab pickup with a longbed and dually rear wheels!

It's not THAT small!!! You can fit a queen sized air mattress in the back! I had one a few yrs back & loved it! :thumbsup Great to drive through the mud, through snow, & to take on camping trips. :banana

Piccola, you loved the Tahoe, or the fact it had a matress in back? Lay down in the back of a Suburban for some real space, or a camper shell on top of a dually. Of course driving those monsters through and mud and snow is not my idea of fun.

Dear flienlow,

What you are describing is lust, not love. Love has no ending date. Sometimes an end occurs, but not before the romance even starts. I too want to pull the trigger on a GT. I don't intent to sell it. Ever. It is also an investment from this point forward. If you paid 200K plus to own one early, you could afford the dance and probably don't consider the expense as more than a cost of doing business.
I can't shake the car out of my mind and I think maybe a year or two will provide opportunities to buy one at a better price, so I will try to buy a 2000 R in the meantime to scratch the itch. It will be a fleeting and futile scratch but hopefully time will pass before I bite the bullet.
The bullet will taste sweet. Anyone want a 66 327 corvette and cash for a dark blue or tungsten?
