The Concorso Italiano program for this year features an article by Wallace Wyss on Lamborghini turning 50 and a little history of some of the Lamborghinis of the past and present. At the end of the write up, there is tangential mention of the Ford GT (and Jaguar XJ220).

"As for the Americans entering the super exotic field, don't raise your hopes. The last American automaker to try was Ford, who briefly attempted with the Ford GT in '05 and '06 but couldn't keep up the effort, dropping out of the supercar field with only 4,038 sold. Their cars were flawed, didn't have an automatic, and lacked what former Ford exec Lee Iacocca called 'pizzazz' ".

Wow, and I thought the GT did have pizzazz....
I would choose a manual over an automatic in the car for sure...
what flaws? The dreaded loose door trim?

Good to see Wallace is still a poorly informed douchebag.

Bony was 100% right about this guy!

Don't even bring him up in front of Jamal or some others at SVT. The bullshit hatchet job he ran on the GT really did hurt the perception of the car until people realized it was b.s.

Do you have a link? Mr. Wuss has an axe to grind and never misses an opportunity to criticize the Ford GT. Considering his level of hate for the GT, one would think he was sodomized by a Mcintosh subwoofer. To suggest the GT lacks pizzazz shows just how biased and irrelevant he is. Flawed because they didn't have an automatic? Really? I always found this to be a plus as it keeps the limp wrists like Mr. Wuss away.

That was the article that started the torrent of B.S that actually led Jay Leno to write in to Autoweek (Popular Mechanics maybe?) and say "uh, what are you talking about? I'm perfectly happy with the car and Ford did an awesome job taking car of a potential problem."

I used the word "sodomized" in my 1700th post. Surely there is some forum prize for that.

To be sodomized by the Mac Sub you have to have one hell of a big A$$hole.

Yes there is, you get sodomized by a Mcintosh subwoofer.

FWIW, as I posted once before about WW, the guys on GT40s.com have had an ongoing "up yours" to him because of numerous erroneous comments about GT40history, etc.

I always said I'd try anything once. I guess I really didn't mean it.

How does this asshat survive? Ignoring his ignorance, he doesn't even write well. Compare his stuff with w mitty.

Wallace Wyss.....Thou dost protest too much. What I find interesting about these critiques is that any objective human who has been around and driven the ford GT can't help but appreciate it. When you look at objective performance criteria and compare it to the F430 or Gallardo circa 2005-2006 there really is no comparison. I have a couple of friends who aren't really "car guys" but have new ferraris or Lambo's and any of them who has driven my very lightly modified GT has been blown away. The driving experience is totally different...but the low end torque is something that is just captivating no matter who you are. It's the whole "playa hata" thing....

Now since the comment started out mentioning lamborghini's history, everyone knows that the holy grail of lambo's is the Miura (1966-1971). Bertone designed it. Just look at the FGT40 and Miura side by side....

They call the miura GT40 "inspired" but I think it was a little more than inspired.....lol

I frequent the vintage section on F-chat since I own two vintage v-12's. Wyss posts on there as "bitzman". He asks some of the oddest questions about rare chassis numbers, etc. Doesn't seem to be held in high regard by the real experts. Almost a stalker with OCD. Seems to have his facts wrong most of the time.

I have a personal friend who's dad found a rare 750 Monza chassis here in Tx in the 90's. Sold on to a collector in Australia who completely resurrected the car. Wyss was nosing around and concocted a story on how my buddy's dad was washing horses and discovered the barn find. Also made some comment on how a guy of such meager means could afford a 1950's Ferrari racing chassis. My friend's dad was a well known architect. Totally off base...yup, a douche.

They dropped out of the supercar program? Who woulda thunk it...

As far as problems with cars go, I have seen many exotics with far more and more major issues than the GT's...like what, not so great fit and finish?
