Just installed a FRPP Transaxle Cooler. Two local Ford dealers indicated that the Ford Transaxle Lubricant is on backorder. Any suitable lubricant alternatives or source options? I did a search but couldn't find any relevant information.

Thanks ..... joe

I got mine from Jack at Muscle Motors Performance 818-888-7778 when I bought the trans axle cooler. I think they have it in stock. Good luck, Kurt

Joe- Don't use anything other than the official Ford product. Engineer that worked on the trans axle was very definite on this when I spoke with him. Maybe someone on the board can help you with some extra until Ford gets some more in.

Thanks Chris. I'll follow your advise.

Joe,

PM or email me a shipping address and I will send you one today. Let me know if you need overnight.

Kendall

Have a Qt.

I got one too if for some reason Kendall's falls through.

Chris is right, the transaxle fluid for our car is special and is sourced directly from Ricardo who makes the unit. The Ford powertrain engineers highly cautioned using any other fluid other than the Motorcraft transaxle fluid.

I have just gone through the same process. Got it at the dealer. $31 list.... luckily they sold it at "jobber"

Does anyone know, if this is a Castrol product? Castrol has a "Synthtourque" synthetic 75-90 that is VERY specificlly called out for a NV4500 found in GM and Dodge truck manual tranny's. Just got some of this for my truck, $19 a quart.......

CRAP, sorry for the double.......

Specracer,

Seriously, if you bought the 75w-90 that was $31 list price - you may have gotten the wrong stuff?? (Ford sales another synthetic 75w-90 that is in almost an identical bottle... and it lists ~$31.) Just make sure, you may be OK.

XT-75W90-QGT same as listed in the service manual. Paid $24 they told me the list was $31 Beats me. I probably could have found it for less, but it was there and there were not any shipping costs.....
