I can understand why the guy didn't want to talk about it. I'd still be crying.

Omg

I glad to have a Safecraft system in the engine bay. It can happen to any car.

Bummer about the car'bque.

Owners not talking.:ack

Let's see: Oregon plate. California kept car. Owner from Minn.

Oregon plate fee $51.00 per year & no sales or personal property taxes.

I for see that some explaining needs to be done to California and/or Minnesota tax authorities, should they come looking.

Fire rescue loves to cut people out of cars. It's one of the perks of the job. You can often tell they're disapointed when we tell them that we'll just climb through the windows to get to the patients, or even worse, when we find a door that still opens.

Let's see.....

Car value - $2M
Insured for - $3M
+ Tough times

= Quick bucks
:thumbsdow

As long as I'm properly insured everthing I have can burn/be demolished. Easy sale. I am NOT sentimentally attached to any home , car boat etc. I really never understood why people say "it's horrible" or "what a terrible loss" if the person is insured and no one was injured.....a stroke of luck in my book. A bit of hassle, but well worth it imo.

Lesson here is drive your cars....

Guaranteed that was a dried out cracked seal, gasket, hose, etc.

It was stored for six months, then first drive, with rough running issues.

Chances are the last 6 drives were after similar storage.

A quick walk around, check for leaks on floor before drive; warm up with hood up with pre-drive check would have revealed noise, fumes, smoke, drips.

I was thinking mouse nest somewhere hot.

and/or chewed wiring

For a car to burn up that bad I would think it would have to be related to a fuel or oil leak. Wiring faults alone may fry a harness, but won't burn off the entire back end without other combustibles being involved.

Ouch!!! that's gonna leave a mark
