I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem so I thought I would post up for the sake of shared information:
The fans inside of the "Big Mac" amplifier have been a bit noisy for some time now. As soon as I turn the key to the start position I can hear them crank up. I thought it was the fuel pumps at first but figured it out after closer inspection.
Today I decided to take the beast apart and see if the fans were replaceable. As is turns out, the entire unit was easy to disassemble and the fans were common parts for computer internals. This is good news because McInosh headquarters (aka McIntosh Labs) denies having anything to do with the construction of an audio system for a Ford GT. I would like to say 'I found it amusing' but in truth they were very irritating. SO, with the amp parted out and no hope of help from the manufacturer, I went to my local computer store and replaced the fans easy-peezy.
If anybody is interested I can upload pictures later. Yet another example of how easy the Ford GT is for us shade-tree mechanics. :thumbsup
