lifting rear of car

Hey Shadow, you sound like a guilty Catholic making an act of contrition. I, for one, never doubt anyone's motives here on this Forum (except maybe Todd, who can blow us all up).

You are funny; no guilt here and yet as I shared it was an awkward post to make as such I wanted to do more than simply say the situation troubled me; the key word here is "me".

As for one's motives; I never speculate on this but rather share how I see it/feel about a situation and then if the proverbial shoe fits then one should wear it and if not then my sharing has been likely interesting at best.

All the best

Where to begin;

I suppose it should be with the bases of this thread and the initial question posted regarding the lifting of the back side of the gals to swap tires.

I remained willing to share proven methods to lift the gals without having to remove the rear diffuser and without the use of special tools and products such as the cool centering pucks that Jay aka GT Saver created for these gals a couple years ago. However the thread migrated over time to a reference about Jay aka GT Saver's cool lift puck system into a new product offering to supposedly replace those that Jay used to sell.

Well it is great reluctance that I get into the middle of this however Jay has become a friend as such with his blessing as well as the Forum moderators I share the following;

Jay aka GT Saver not only still sells the cool lift puck system but he also has them in stock because he ships an average of 2 sets weeks. Now I know this because I chatted with Jay only a short time ago. It was during this conversation that I made mention of the new product offering to which he was initially disappointed however then I felt him smile as he said " well; at least I know that he likes them" followed by "if he wants to fabricate and sell them too then so be it; I am not going to make waves".

Now it remains only my opinion and I understand this VERY well however; when this Forum was created and the gals and their owners were brought together several requests were made for specialty items as well as those items direly needed.

It was as the direct result of this that those with the resources and ability set up their shop to tend to these request. In the example of Jay GT Saver he bought several cool items to the table; lower OEM shift balls, urethane bulkhead seal versus the putty as used by Ford, magnetic drain plugs, the cool fully machined lift puck system presented in a nice case with a diagram of the gal’s proper lift points, transaxle breather extenders, etc. At the same time Kendall aka CoolTech met the demand for a better trickle charger with a neatly integrated plug and play setup, seat stops to protect one from shattering the rear glass, license plate standoffs to allow for better engine bay circulation, etc. Then T&A met the need for the BADASS Penske shock setup, a cool lowering collar setup designed to be used with the OEM shocks and a transaxle remote breather reservoir. Then as time went by folks such as AccuFab presented inlet air tube stiffeners, larger billet throttle bodies, and of course the well known and used half shaft bolt hardware. Then Whipple brought us more air through the huge superchargers and Heffner more air as the result of the twin turbos as well as their exhaust and then Stainless Works presented another exhaust to consider.

What I am attempted to demonstrate is that many folks went in many directions and then came back to the table with their wares and at no time was there IMO a conflict of interest or one using another’s product and or idea to present a like kind product but rather each product and representative stood on their own merits as they presented their response to the Forum members requests.

Now I too have responded on a few occasions with a widget or two and in fact at one time I made a less than respectful post within the body of another’s thread during which I shared my idea while they were attempting to present theirs and once I realized what I had done and I immediately called the initiated of the thread to apologize and also made another post within the thread taking the focus off of my idea; what I did was done without the desire to harm or redirect at yet it was wrong. Now my personal commitment to this Forum is both sincere and can be evidence at any moment in time though my actions as such I am comfortable sharing all of these feelings even though I wish that they were not IMO needed to be shared.

Now I say that what I did in the example as shared was wrong because the older I get the more I value the meaning and use of certain words and in this case the word I refer to is “friend”

I consider many of you my friend and remain willing to assist all of you at any time and included in this mix of friends of Jay; the owner of GT Saver products.

Here is the meaning of a friend as shared by another;

"A true friend is one who is there with you always; a friend shares your good times and your bad times. A friend is trusted without question. A friend will be there to for you during all moments in your life"

I share all of this because I have made clear that over the last year Jay aka GT Saver has had a very difficult chain of events to deal with; as his friend I have remained accessible and willing to help Jay in any way I can however most of that which Jay has had to deal with had to be accomplished on his own as such I have remained more often than not simply a concerned and caring ear to bend.

Having shared all of this I truly wish for all of you the very best and should Kendall present a like kind product aka lift pucks I too would expect it to be a wonderful product however I ask that all of you remember who created and made them accessible to us when we reached out and shared a need and who also continues to stock and ship the very cool lift puck system; this folks is Jay the owner of GT Saver; my friend, a friend of this Forum, and a Ford GT owner.

Shadowman, it sounds like Jay is a friend of yours and you ought to be commended on being a friend in return. Jay has great products and we used to love seeing him at C&C. We as a community are truly sorry for his hardships and wish him the best. Likewise, I always enjoy reading your posts and hope to do business with you someday or just buy you a beer and talk about these great cars of ours.

I am perplexed however by your response! As a business man myself, I always encourage competition because in the final analysis, the consumer (members on this forum including me) benefit the most. Likewise, when more sponsors support this forum, we all benefit. In this case, I have called and left multiple messages after endlessly trying to order the pucks from GTSAVER.com where the links are broken. In other words, me the consumer, wants to spend some $ and I am not able to. So what am I supposed to do? I have used 2x4 studs forever but I have 2 GTs and would like a classier product to go with my GTs and my other cars.

Since "necessity, is the mother of invention" I decided to investigate who else offered these pucks for sale or can manufacture them - again since I can not buy them online or via telephone. Well, Cooltech offered to make them and I accepted to buy the pending product. what so bad about that?

Now let me say that I whole heartedly support this forum, the sponsors especially, the Rallies, and continuously direct new GT owners to this forum and all its providers/sponsors without prejudice. I understand business fairly well and I will be the first to acknowledge as a consumer, I will always look for the best product/service value available.

Send my regards to Jay and please let him know that I am willing to help him as a Consumer, fellow GT Owner, Forum Member and most importantly as a kind person.

God Bless America and every Capitalist that lives amongst us!:cheers

All,

I have had the pleasure to meet and interact with Jay at Rally 2 and would consider him a colleague and friend. I've promoted his products to others and still intend to. I certainly have not gone down the path of any product venture with the intention of bringing any harm to anyone - not the least of which is Jay. Rather, through direct personal interactions and inquiries, I have seen opportunity for a similar product - albeit with different attributes. This is hardly precedence setting. Heffner, Accufab, Stillen and MMP all have great but very similar exhaust systems for the GT. They and other vendors offer similar pulley and tune upgrades. Jay and Accufab both sell different versions of Magnetic Drain Plugs and air inlet stiffeners. The consumer can and should decide which products they want to buy. I'm not bringing new products to market to hurt someone - but only to fill an opportunity.

I wish Jay the very, very, best in both his personal and professional life and if there's some rough times for him, I hope he gets through these as expeditiously as possible.

I have never met or chatted with Jay...
I know he has made contributions to our community and has faced some major challenges.

As a very aggresive business leader I chase major markets. Ford doesn't chase KIA or Suzuki...

I guesstimate that Jay has sold 200 - 300 kits.
From a market potential of 4038 cars and maybe 35% forum participants.

Jay developed the system. He has them ready to ship.

I think I have said enough on this thread. I'm doine, stick a fork in me! :)

I fear that because I tend to become wordy with my comments that much of what I was attempting to share was lost;

Let me be clear; I support competition as I am very much the entrepreneur and enjoy a capitalistic based system. I also feel that Kendall aka CoolTech has brought and continues to bring great things to this group however;

In my world there are some lines that I simply will not cross; I will not bring to market a product or service with the knowledge that I would be much less the intent to undermine a friend and or associate.

Now having said this; yes there have been times that I have brought a like kind product or service to market that mirrors a friend and or associates however I have done so only after an open dialog between us. There have been times that in doing so actually will increase the overall market thus benefiting all parties involved and then other times that the originator of the product and or service simply feels it is the time to move on in which case I step in and fill the projected void.

I do not feel that comparisons between Heffner, Whipple, Stillen, etc have merit or are a comparable situation because to a company they have placed their own slant on their offerings as such created a niche market of their own.

Now so that I do not create another lengthy reply; my primary issue is the fact that Jay aka GT Saver created a product and continues to sell it and that another Forum member is now preparing to present a like kind product knowing that Jay aka GT Saver has had a series of awkward moments in his life as such has not tended to his business as he likely should have. I know that there have been shipment delays, difficulty in getting in contact with him both issues which have caused frustration for many; I truly understand this and yet it is not because Jay does not care but rather because he has been attempting to get his personal ducks in a row.

I find it interesting that when a Forum member’s birthday is known many share their warmest wishes and yet when a contributor to this Forum is down the same energy is not shared to help him/her through the process.

In closing; it is never my intention to create a state of flux within this Forum however I feel that there are times that taking a few minutes to reflect on what this Forum is reflective of is important.

Kendall; as always I wish for you only the greatest of successes

photos of jacking GT

I posted photos in the past. There are great threads on this subject. Do a search for them.

My GT is lowered quite a bit so I use one of the ultra low profile jacks as discussed in past threads. I use the jacking area behind the seats/under the firewall. The entire side of the GT is lifted & I place jackstands under the front & rear points. I then do the other side. I can get my GT on all 4 jackstands in less than 10 minutes. I have a rubber pad on the flat lift area of the jack. I guess I could use the Savers, hockey pucks or wood just as well. They all work.

I jack my GT up & pull the wheels after every long drive or every track event to check everything & clean up.

It is great to have options, and some of us just are so damn impatient. (something I need to work on)
Being a business man myself I would love for there not to be any competition, but that is what makes this a great country. I know It makes me a better business man and helps drive me to build my business to be better every year. GOD BLESS THE USA and thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the vendors here. This is a great forum and was one that helped me and direct me when buying my incredible Ford GT Supercar.

I have to go on the record and say I have worked with Kendall and he is nothing but a stand up guy. It all comes down to the basics supply and demand.

I don't know you Shadowman but hope to one day, but I took that a little hard.

Your work is great and huge propts on your work done on Chris's Lambo doors. Incredible

Thank you for your comments

As for competition; my shared thoughts had little to do with the act of competition and everything to do with relationships.

Now FYI Kendall called me today and we had (as is typical) a very nice and rather lengthy chat. In this case the basis of the call surrounded this thread however before we were through we had covered a litany of other issues too. We do not always have to agree to maintain a relationship furthermore I too made clear that Kendall aka CoolTech brings great things to this party.

With regards to you taking anything that I shared a little hard; there was no reason for this IMO as none of it was directed at you

From this end I share thoughts openly and in turn respectfully receive thoughts from others in the same way always using a fundamental test of sorts that I shared in an earlier reply "if the shoe fits then wear it however if not respect that it is the opinion as felt by another".

In as much as I support a capitalistic system I also support the open sharing of thoughts. What I shared was never meant to hurt or create a state of uneasiness but rather I wanted to create a reason for folks to consider; nothing more. To some degree it would appear that my goal was realized.

Lastly; thank you for the kind words; I have no doubt and look forward to the day that our paths cross.
All the best
