Le Mans - Amazing

Ralphie - what are you doing sittin in the Captains chair :tap:

For a minute I thought Dr. Phil was at Le Mans.:biggrin

Great photos Ralphie - really enjoyable for those of us who can't be there.

The entire Matech operation looks incredibly professional and well set up, how lovely that they are looking after the forum sponsors so superbly...

Keep the updates coming!

:cheers

We are all captains here!! :biggrin

I'm planning to buy the backs of the Phil Hill & Olivier Gendebien chairs to take home with me.

Ralphie your are looking great sitting in Phil's chair. Brings back some pretty great memories.

If you get a few moments, go into the Aston Martin enclave and ask to meet my friend Robin Donnovan. His company, Delligatto, usually is the host for the A/M family and friends at the 24. Robin did race Porsche 962's at Le Mans for something like 14 years. And he knows everybody! And that is not an understatement. Ask him about going his midnight tour and wine drinking fest at Indy...

p.s. post a of photo of Camilo's Matech painting for us.

I'll try to look him up and give him your regards. Camillo painting below.

grrrrrr.... I hate being jealous. You guys suck.

Yes we do - we are sucking it up so good!! and loving every minute of it! :rofl

I think I'm going to cry. Whats the temperature like.

Can we send you a towel or souvenir napkin from the Hospitality Suite to wipe your tears on?:biggrin

Temperatures are in the low 70's with comfortable humidity. Good for the car engines. A few slight rain showers yesterday, but none today so far - possible rain tonight.

Here are some pictures from yesterday's activities:

Picture 2 - Our group and others having lunch on one side of the Suite. Doesn't Andy look happy!

Let's help Andy.

As a former Ford Manager, the poor guy probably had the ghost of Henry Ford II visit him last evening, reminding him of his unequivocal duty to deliver victory (e.g. career ender....).

You are in good hands, enjoy yourself!

It was a 50/50 shot as to which car Camilo would endorse - hmmmm... #61. :wink

Man, toooooo coooool!!!!!:willy

Man, send chills down my spine and I'm not even there!!!

Man, I shoulda gone also. :willy

Enjoy for those watching. I'll try to live vicariously. :cheers

Keep the pics coming!!!!

For those who are at Le Mans does anyone know if there will be any of the Ford family or Ford Employees at the race on Saturday? Maybe Dave or Chip would know. The Matech Team seems to be VERY loyal toward Ford. Could Ford Motor Co. be a backer or sponsor in some way? Tomy Hamon

Tomy -

When I chatted with Martin yesterday, he intimated that he wished that he could get more support from Ford. I got the impression that he gets very little or nothing.

Here's a few pictures from today's practice session -

Picture 1 - View from above the pit

Picture 2 - Natacha in the cockpit, chatting with Cyndie and Rahel

Picture 3 & 4 - Romain leaving the pit for the first practice session

Picture 5 - Natacha on the Start/Finish straight

The only team driver with any previous laps at Le Mans is Natacha - the rest are all rookies here! :eek

All I can say is that yes, members of the Ford family are watching. I have communicated with those bearing the name and not only are they watching, but they knew all about our excursion overseas.

Unfortunately, the team does not get any official corporate support, as the GT is a car they no longer build and will not be building, along with various other reasons.

Crazy day so far. Will post pics after dinner.

Thanks Ralphie, The pictures are great, keep them coming. Tomy

Should have, could have, and damn I wish I would have! You all are having too much fun. Go MATECH

Ok, so here's a small update. The Matech team has had...a long day. :lol But it's a long week and they will live to fight another day. Both cars were injured in excursions off the track but we watched them reassemble the cars and they will be back in action later on. What an amazing sight to behold, all the LMP1, LMP2, GT1, GT2 cars all on the track at such different speeds.

When they win this race, can we all agree that BLUE is indeed the fastest color?

Andy says yes, and he knew it all the time; so does George(Midnite Blue) - signed Andy (AJB)

Call Goldberg & Osborn!

ouch!!!!

Wednesday at Le Mans.

Gentlemen,

OK, so DBK isn't thrilled with my thread merge. That's nothing. Yesterday I talked him into walking the whole damn circut with me. We can do this! 8.5 miles in the rain going as fast as we could walk. The slowest lap ever for two Ford GT drivers! 2 hours and 15 minutes. We know the track like the back of our hands now. :biggrin We are both in pain today.

Chip
