Well; I figured that I would post a couple pictures of an area of the gals that most will never see.

I had a little time this evening and besides I felt like a little relaxation was in order so I removed the valve covers on my gal as the means to continue forward movement on the various twist and tweaks that I have underway.

Needless to say the she is a mechanical wonder at least for a “Motorhead” such as me underneath all the cool clothing that she wears.

Enjoy

That is interesting. Will you have some high res ones?

What is it you're doing under there?

I have the high res pictures as well ... however out of respect of the Forum I shrink them so as to keep the space and bandwidth requirements down.

I have a laundry list of things on my "To-Do List" and as many pieces that have accumulated over the last few months. Now with Spring in the air it is time to get serious so that the two of us can go out and play once the weather breaks.

Shadowman...you dodged the question...:biggrin What are you up to?????:confused Or will we just be surprised at the '07 rally in CA? :cheers

Great Head

Shadowman, Great pictures! As a MotorHead too, I can appreciate the intricacies of the DOHC and our Hemi head! Thanks for the post and I echo Chris (Mr "Yea I've got one....or maybe two or three....), what cha working on.....?

Agreed! It is certainly cool that Ford added the tricked out springs, even though no one is supposed to see them.

I just felt it was time for something new in the Forum.

I can share that “if” one decides to remove their valve covers ……. do the driver side first because then you are as “a pig to bacon”…..committed to the process. The removal is very straightforward however….. once you migrate your blanket and tools to the passenger side the story changes. No it is not a huge job and yet it requires a bit more work and is awkward.

The springs look like they are in the HERITAGE colors to me [on purpose maybe]?

These machines just keep on amazing me.

True works of art, even in locations that are not visable to the lay person.

I JUST LOVE THIS THING.

Well; after Spirit's post I am presently methodically removing the "Heritage" paint and replacing it with black and in my case with silver stripes.

I shared last night; I was antsy and needed to relax as such I started taking things apart. I have always enjoyed jig-saw puzzles. LOL

This I can share; as a component of preparing the gal for the tarmac we completed most of the finish machine work for the Whipple last night and later today or this evening we plan to complete the final detail work.

She is truly a wonderful canvass to play with and massage

Bill,

That is "GT Blasphemy".

Remove your heads :eek , send them to me :wink , and I will send you back a set of F-150 heads :frown ; they have black springs with silver retainers which will match your GT. :lol

I will save you all of that tedious busy work. :rofl

:cheers

Well I have moved yet another step forward with my project

The valve covers were disassembled and then sent over to be stripped prior to being powder coated. In this case she became a “Redhead”

In the pictures you will see that the inner oil splash shield was removed as one of the steps prior to the stripping process. Another area that was carefully dealt with was all of the machine surfaces so as to cause no secondary issues once reassembled. There are the 8 coil seal surfaces; 4 under each valve cover, 3 machined mating surfaces; 2 on one valve cover and 1 on the other, and then the 20 machined bores; 10 on each valve cover that the securing bolt o-rings reside within.

Incidentally; I chatted with Jason at Heffner prior to removing the oil splash shields because I thought that they had also powder coated valve covers and wanted to verify that in doing so would cause no secondary issues. Jason was a pleasure to chat with an very willing to share information. FYI; they are secured with a large number of very small screws and there was concern (based on personal experiences in the past) as to whether they could be removed without having them simply snap off. Initially we discussed using a little heat to relax the OEM thread locker however in the end they came out very easy without heat. I would say that the concern at this point would be making certain that once reinstalled they are thread locked into place so as not to have one of these little rascals find there way into the heart of the gal..

You thought I might be interested ....”LOL”… Tom I thoroughly enjoy details and specialty nuances embedded in projects/processes. Sort of like my kids “Find Waldo” books where one has to look a bit to find the treasure.

In this day and age the Men/Women that dream long enough and work hard enough to allow their dream it to become a reality is “cool” beyond words.

Tom; your personal assistance with my project is not only appreciated but allowed my dream to be realized in an uncompromising manner. Rest assured that the effort put forth by you and your team will not be forgotten.

You are a good man

Thank you
