Heritage on eBay with no reserve...

Wasn't the first Gulf paint job done by Galvin on a 2005? I think so... not 100% sure. Back when they did it the FGT's in Kal-fool-nia where going for way over MSRP.

I believe it was GALPIN. :thumbsup

Thanks Shelby..., to many Makers Mark Manhattans last night.

I see Ebay is blocking identy of bidders. I am not an active Ebay user. Maybe 60 trades in the last 5 or 6 years, one as a seller and the rest as a buyer. I would appreciate your comments on Ebay. My take is that 99% of the sellers are honest and straight forward, as are 99% of the buyers. What is your take?

I dont really think that he meant the cars on ebay were not "TOP NOTCH" but rather that alot of these high-end cars do not sell through a completed auction on ebay. As I have said many times, ebay is more of an advertising venue rather than an accurate example of what the prices are on Exotic cars. 90% of our inventory is sold outside of ebay. There are MANY top notch cars on ebay. Just gotta find them. There are also many NOT SO TOP NOTCH CARS on ebay as I have purchased them and then had to wholesale them at no profit or a loss as I will not sell questionable cars to my customers. Check any source you can find, there is nothing negative about any car that I have sold that I am aware of. I recently had a guy sell me a car with less than 800 miles that after I purchased it I found out the guy had some issue with the tranny and clutch. The guy knowingly sold it to me and with-held the information from me. Although the car was perfect, not a mark on it, and very low mileage, AND ford had already addressed the issues under warranty, after I found this out, I sold the car to a dealer Wholesale and disclosed this information to him. He sold it for a big profit and says the customer has never had an issue. I am glad of that, but I sold it in this matter to try to keep true to my goals and only sell what I consider is the BEST examples of Used FORD GTs and other high-end cars. I am sure at any point I could un-knowingly sell a car that has had a problem or problems in the past, but I do my best to buy my cars from original owners who I feel for the most part are TRUSTWORTHY. We/I aso do a very close inspection on all cars that pass through here

Also, I have only ONE car in my inventory at this moment that was purchased from ebay. I have had some in the past, but only one at the moment and I am very selective about the ones I purchase.

At anyrate, there are several places that good quality cars can be purchased, just do your homework on the car you are interested in. I run free carfax reports and ford warranty reports for anyone looking at any car. Does NOT have to be one of mine.

Shelby, I hope you know nothing in my previous post was intended to disparage your dealership or its use of Ebay. Rather, I was just disagreeing with my interpretation of Gulf's comment that cars on Ebay are not, across the board, of high quality.

Since I have started my search for a GT I have noticed that your dealership has purchased (or made offers on) several GT's that I was watching--a couple of which you beat me to the "buy it now." Someday I will find the perfect car before you do and avoid paying your markup.

no offense taken. I hope you find what you are looking for

Galpin was the first. the car was a red fully optioned I believe. Someone had made the order/purchase and never took delivery... SO, they painted it. They still have it over in their collections show room

Stunts,

They wanted $279K in July 05 for that car. If they still have it I am amazed, wonder what the price is now? I heard they had 5-6 GTs in the special showroom?

I wouldn't say the cars on Ebay are not "real top notch."

For instance, Elite, which you say has 100% perfect cars, just bought two GT's from Ebay sellers recently and are now offering them for sale.

The best of the best cars are not generally sold on eBay. If that were the case Barrett Jackson, Bonham's, Silver, Christie's, RM, etc. would do all their business on eBay, but they don't. There are a few good cars on eBay, but the vast majority of the really fine examples of any model/year are sold privately, through dealers, or auction houses long before they get to eBay. Modern "no story" cars are almost always sold by a dealer or trade privately, and not eBay. My statement is to that fact. And, there are way more cars with "stories" on eBay than ones without "stories". It is a generalization, but an accurate one in my opinion. Everyone knows if you want to dump a car for the cheapest possible price to the public, eBay is the place. I bought my FGT on eBay from an authorized Ford dealer brand new (1.7 miles) at a record low price at the time, and I don't think many traded for much less before or after that.

OK, step right up! :party

We're taking bets as to how much the Heritage will trade (or at least where the bidding ends).

$193k.

$195k.

$199k.

I say $194.5k.

$195,000.01

Yeah, absolutely ridiculous. Last time Kip was in town, we stopped by to talk to his buddy who runs that aftermarket store. They discussed doing something to that car for SEMA... I don't think anything came of it but you never know... Galpin doesn't need to get rid of it, but I think they use it as a promotional thing... in any way they desire... that car is kinda like the town whore..:rofl

You would also think that because it is not in original paint that the car would be the least expensive heritage out there... WHAT SAY THE FORUM MEMBERS HERE ON THAT?

05 GT not in ORIGINAL FACTORY NUMBER PAINT, but in heritage scheme... HOW MUCH?? $150K:confused Galpin does claim the paint job was 15K

What car 'you referring to here, stunts? I didn't/don't see where that info is posted in the ad regarding this thread's car. Where's it posted???

(Dang. I must r-e-a-l-l-y be getting slow...)

I think STUNTS is talkin' 'bout the '05 that Galpin Ford had painted to look like Heritage paint scheme.

$135,000.01 :lol

I wouldn't think you're too far off

That car is being shill bid up for sure. It will be re-listed as a non paying bidder bought it and the same thing will happen again unless they get someone that wants to play their game.

Anyone know if this Heritage resulted in a "real" sale or not???
