Help I am locked out of my GT

Pull the fuses that I suggested that should stop the interior fan. Of course you won't have and heat or a/c then, but it would help to isolate the problem.

I have the 06 wiring diagram out and I am trying to figure out which fuses you are referring too? I have the panel off but can't figure out by looking at the panel which fuses you are talking about?

Using the wiring Ford 2006 wiring diagram I had previously purchased off Ebay I pulled the two fuses you mentioned and it didn't cause the fan to go off.

According to the wiring diagram though that should have stoppped it.

Maybe, just maybe

Have you tried starting the car and letting it run a bit or driving a few miles then turning it off and see if the fan continues to run then? Also, try cycling the key a few times on and off slowly. Just my 2 cents. Don't become alarmed when you fill up after being on empty and the gas guage doesn't come up immediately either. This only happens after filling from an empty tank, never with a quarter tank or more prior to filling. When I do let it go to empty I have to either start it twice or wait several minutes while driving for the guage to come up. More of an irritation than a problem. I wonder if a little Viagra in the tank might help getting it up?

If you pulled both fuse and the motor keeps going then I think that the climate control module is faulty. This would have to be replaced by a dealer.

This points out a problem all of us have over time electronics will fail. The GT being a limited production car will make parts unique to it, hard to find after 10 years. Imagine asking for a climate control module 20 years down the road. All modern cars have this problem, but cars with high production numbers have other vendors making parts and the junkyards will have an endless supply.

Dead battery replaced before delivery

For what it's worth, I bought a new 05 that sat for seven months on the dealer's showroom floor. The battery was flat, and the dealer tried to charge it, but it wouldn't hold the charge. So they replaced it with a new battery before I took delivery. I have had no problems with battery drain. But then again, I drive it at least once per week. But I agree with the Cobra man, in that it's not the best quality assembly I have ever seen, but to me, it is the best looking and performing car I have ever owned (250 plus). And that, for now, is enough for me to keep it as long as I can.

I cringe at the thought of bringing the car to my local Ford dealer. I should just take a key to the side of the car myself before bringing it in and letting them ding or scratch it. The one big disadvantage to owning the Ford GT is the Ford dealer service department. So I will call the Ford GT hotline and try to talk them into sending out a field tech. Other wise just plan on more aggravation and a few new dings and scratches from the Ford dealer.

Careful - it won't help if you bring a negative attitude to the dealer. I have never dealt with a Ford dealer before getting my GT - but the service I have had so far is second to none. My rule is - I treat them with respect, while politely outlining my concerns and my standards. And I am unemotional about it - I show them I am reasonable and have a sense of humor. I want to enjoy this car! This approach has never failed me. Try it. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Good advice on the dealer.

However I live in Las vegas and the Ford dealers as well as almost all the car dealers here thrive by the transient nature of this town. 6000 new residents every month. Long term relationships are not a priority for local dealers. Case in point from the year 2000 until 2004 I either bought or personally brought down over 40 customers to my Friendly local Ford dealer. When it came time to for me to order a Ford GT in 2005 they told me sure you can have one for 250K. Same for 2006. Finally when they got their last GT in a 06 Heritage they called and offered it to me at list price because the market had tanked when dealers all over the country were heavily discounting them to strangers.

So I bought my GT from a small family owned dealer in Iowa. Then my local Ford dealer told me they would make it up to me and sell me a new Shelby/SVT GT 500.... at only 12K over sticker. Gee what a great dealer. Ford is going to build 9000 per year for the next three years and he wants me to pay 12K over sticker.

Their service manager is a great and honest guy however their lot is jampacked with cars and everytime I bring in one of my Fords it always leaves with a new ding or scratch and the volume of cars leads to crappy work.

If Ford doesn't send out a feild tech I will try to get my local Porsche master tech buddy of mine to fix it. If he can't fix it I am selling this POS and saying goodbye to new Fords once and for all. I was really hesitant to buy this thing with all the horror stories I had heard and I am really kicking myself for being so gullible and buying one. I knew better I have no one to blame but myself.

I can't imagine what would make your fans continue after the ignition is turned off. Could it be that a sensor thinks the engine's still hot?

Would it be worth hooking the car up to an OBD scanner to see if there's a fault code popped up?

Why are you gullible for buying a GT? All cars have problems and I don't know of any car company that will send a tech out to your home for a <200k car. Get the car fixed, drive it, see how you like it. The GT drives better then any sports car I have ever driven and can be easily modified to over 600 rwhp!

Gullible because every person who owned a GT that I have talked to in person has had several problems with their GT as opposed to the internet chat room guys who have for the most part trouble free owner experiences with their GTs and many of who probably don't even own a GT.

Gullible because I thought if I waited to buy a GT built in July 2006 most of the glitches would be worked out.

Gullible because I was told if I had problems like this Ford would send a field tech out to my home and that Ford was really standing behind these cars. I fully expect to be told tomorrow on the phone by the Ford GT hotline people to drop the car off at my local Ford dealer and when they their tech is done working on the mini vans and focus cars he will get to mine. The only actual verified circumstance of these phantom field techs actually coming out to help a Ford GT owner that I know of happened because the GT owner had friends in high places at Ford.

But who knows? Hope springs eternal out here. As does my blower fan.

I can see why Las Vegas would be different than most other places now. Sounds to me like you have a dealer problem though. I would go elsewhere. If there isn't anyone else, then I would insist on getting the car done when it is convenient for you, and insist on being there every step of the way.

BTW when I had my last Ferrari, it came back from an oil change with a big chip out of it. So it's not the car, it's the people. I've never heard of a car that has a perfect mechanical/electrical track record. I would not go anywhere that treated me the way your Ford dealer treats you. And I would point this out in letters to the owner and Ford HQ. Dealers that do poorly deserve a reprimand; dealers that do well deserve praise.

N.B. our buddy Stefan in Italy takes his car to his Ferrari shop and they love it. It's great when you can find people who can fix 'em who also have a passion for performance cars.

With 15 months and 6,000 miles on the clock I've had two problems:

1. Slight door rattle in each door, fixed in a few hours under warranty at my local dealer
2. One time the gauges went dead, but immediately came back by restarting the car -- and the problem has not re-appeared

I've never even seen the battery on this car, and while it gets driven relatively regulary it has also sat for up to a month without being started.

Another person at our company bought a Ferrari 550 a few years ago (brand new) and in the first 3 months it stranded him three times and had niggling electrical gremlins that took a over year to chase down (not sure if the car or dealer are to blame for that last part -- maybe both).

It's easy for one to assume his/her experience represents reality for everyone -- but it's usually an inaccurate assumption.

This post made me go out and try my door locks. Mine unlocked with the key immediately, no problem. Just an FYI.

You are correct however using the key actuates the electic portion it DOES NOT mechanically unlock the car.

NBD and yet this was good information to know.

I love the car and as for glitches; far to few to even consider a concern. When compared to many others I have/have had this gal has been flawless. As for people that do not participate on this board have non disclosed issues; I have heard of none even when speaking with the folks at the dealerships that see them. What has been posted seems to be the extent of the issues. IMO a well built and very cool car.

Shadow, mine gave a mechanical clunk when I opened it. There was no electrical mechanism sound, nothing like opening from the inside or with the keyfob.

dead battery

Is it possible that one of the doors was ajar and left the interior lights on and that is what drained the battery?

The only problem I worry about is the inside lights stay on for sometimes 5 min's after parking it. I wish they were adjustable.

Tell me more;

When I put the key in and turn it I was able to disable the electric button or reactivate it.... however no mechanical way to open the door without the use of the electric button.

Takes care
