Anyone?

I just ordered it from my local Tuner shop - I hope they can get it in. They say it won't be a problem... I'd like to hear if anyone has tried it yet, and any results yet?

Power Upgrade

My Ford dealer will be installing mine on November 29.

I have ordered one from MMP... I guess it will take 2 weeks before it gets here in the UK.

Keep us posted

Would be interesting to see a before and after dyno session. :thumbsup

It's not released to Motor Sports Dealers as of today.TGH

My local Ford dealer told me, today, that it would void drive-train warranty. Fordracing Products said they were not sure, yet. The Fordracing Products web site (http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9768) states "not legal for sale or use on pollution-controlled vehicles", even tho there is an E.O. BUT, the EO refers to the Whipple supercharger. In other words, who knows...so far.....

perforamnce upgrade

Just heard from the local ford dealer that mine is in.Does anyone know if
there any warranty issues(as in voiding) if we install the upgrade?

Aaaaaaahhhhhh! :lol

Here's my post on the subject.

It effects the warranty on the part it is installed and any parts affected by the change. Magnuson-Moss dictates that if you put on a pulley and your battery goes bad or your headlight goes out, they are unrelated and the warranty is unaffected. Likewise, if you add a new stereo and your engine blows, your warranty for the engine is unaffected.

If you go to the page where this part is listed on FRPP's website:

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9768

The "limited warranty" icon is displayed. If you click that link it takes you to this page:

http://www.fordracingparts.com/announcements/news47.asp

Where the following text is displayed:

All Ford Racing Parts are aftermarket parts. Ford Racing Parts are not Genuine Ford Parts or Accessories. Therefore, they may not be used in any application that requires the use of Genuine Ford Parts or Accessories.

Ford Racing Performance Parts are sold "as is" with no warranty. A Limited Warranty is available for some select parts and will be denoted by the following logo...
The GT power pack is one of the items with said logo.

Then the following text:

The warranty will cover parts and labor to replace defective components on Ford Dealer installed parts only.
  • A 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty is applicable if installed at the time of new vehicle delivery
  • A 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty is in effect if installed after the date of vehicle delivery but prior to expiration of 3 years / 36,000 mile vehicle warranty
Clicking on the "warranty" link brings up a PDF.

That PDF has the following text.

WARNING NOTICE:
Ford Racing Parts are not Genuine Ford Parts. All Ford Racing Parts are aftermarket parts. Therefore, they may not be used in any application that requires the use of Genuine Ford Parts. The use of Ford Racing parts and components is likely to increase horsepower which may cause damage to the vehicle driveline and adversely affect other performance characteristics. Such damage is the sole responsibility of the consumer and is not covered by this Limited Warranty. Consumers are solely and completely responsible for evaluating their vehicle to ensure that the vehicle, and each part of that vehicle, is appropriate for this Ford Racing part or component. It is the consumer's sole responsibility to have the performance enhancement parts properly installed on their vehicle along with any modifications that are necessary for the proper performance of the vehicle.

Vehicle damage caused by a consumer's failure to modify the vehicle properly for use of one or more Ford Racing parts and components is not covered by this Limited Warranty and is the sole responsibility of the consumer. This Limited Warranty and/or the New Vehicle Limited Warranty on your vehicle may be voided, either in whole or in part, where the vehicle has been damaged due to a consumer's failure to modify the vehicle properly as necessary for use of Ford Racing parts and components.

Retail Customers: To obtain warranty service, please return your vehicle to any Ford, Lincoln or Mercury Dealership. Please have your original dated receipt for date and installation verification.

The information I posted before is also included. That is the extent of the text. From that text, you can see what is covered. Do not rely on any gray area or possible exceptions for what might be covered. If it does not say, "if the engine or transmission is damaged with the use of this item, your factory warranty is unaffected". Under normal OEM factory warranty, modifying the engine voids the engine warranty. This FRPP limited warranty expressly states:

The use of Ford Racing parts and components is likely to increase horsepower which may cause damage to the vehicle driveline and adversely affect other performance characteristics. Such damage is the sole responsibility of the consumer and is not covered by this Limited Warranty.

...which is the exact opposite of saying "if the engine or transmission is damaged with the use of this item, your factory warranty is unaffected". I think that's pretty clear.

That is the only information in the "Limited Warranty" from FRPP. This is a change from the rest of FRPP's aftermarket parts which came with no warranty.

uh oh.....

Well to our disappointment we received our first batch of these kits in and guess what........

1) No instructions......

Here is a link though:

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9768

2) No Pro-Cal Tool......

You have to go online and register the product and wait 7-10 business days to get the Pro-Cal Tool.

Sorry to all those that have purchased this kit from us and the new wait time to actually install and recalibrate your computer.

Power Upgrade

A box containig my FRPP performance upgrade arrived at McCoy Ford yesterday. After reading Jack's post I went to look at the part this morning. Just as Jack said, there was no calibration tool and no instructions. Does it appear odd to anyone else that nothing was mentioned by FRPP about not receiving the calibration tool when the parts were delivered?

it was very upsetting....

We were never told the Pro-Cal tool was not included with the kit and now must wait 7-10 business days for the tool to arrive to us. There is no way to expedite it either. I guess we just sit and wait :frown

Do you get to keep the pro-cal or just use it and return it?

you get to keep it....

The Pro-Cal is for your's to keep!

Now seriously, Ford will now know who exactly has modded their car cause they have to register it first. Sounds like warranty hell to me.

No warranty hell, just no warranty on the drivetrain as DBK has already posted.

FRPP Calibration Tool

I tried to register on line yesterday at the FRPP registration site for my Procal Flash Tool and could not get it to accept my VIN. I called the FRPP tech line to see what I was doing wrong. The man on the tech line took information from me including my VIN and said he would send it that day. The Procal Flash Tool just arrived via UPS next day air. I am pretty happy about it! F GT goes in to McCoy Ford here in Muncie November 29 to upgrade.
