Shadowman:

We have been out of town for some time and have not been on forum. A belated happy Birthday. Hope you have many, many more.

Once again I seem to have taken the long way, gone by the book, before checking the forum and calling for advice. This time it was to access those RCA plugs on the back of the radio. Of course, I followed the book for radio removal and had the sub woofer and cover out, the center console out, and didn’t look for help until I couldn’t get those trim pieces with the trim piece removal tool (part of the radio removal tool). Of course I was on the forum and read the section where Shadowman suggested a Snap On pick. That indeed did the trick. But try as I might, I could not get the radio removal side inserts to slide in far enough to lock into place. A message left on Shadowman’s phone, and a return call informed me that I was on the wrong side of the tab: need to go outside the tab on the insertion. Of course, then he tells me that there was no reason to remove the center console. Why not turn a 15 minute job into a 6 hour job? I did come across more folks that had signed pieces of the car as it went together: on a console side trim piece is in red KC 11.26.04 #17, and on the console itself in blue 11 BB 11-29-04. All in all, it was a good day. Took the car out in the evening and the I-Pod music never sounded better. A couple of photos:
