GT1000 Twin Turbo - Supercharged Pic

Has anyone done a TT+Whipple. As i understand it Heffner does not recommend this and he would only recommend a tt+stock blower. The whipple takes more power to run than the Stock blower, plus you would need to turn the whipple down to make the combo work properly so at that point with stock like boost and the whipple it would probaly make less pwer down low.

Maybe some one has done and and has some info.

Its not a magic combination although it would seem so in theory not in reality.

You did it right torrie?

Affirmative

That's what i thought. Also you'd be lookin at another 9000.00 for not much of a gain or a loss. Better to stick with the stock blower.

The stock blower will pose no limitations for anyone, we hit just under 1500whp with it on Ray's car.

For me though with my car I went TT then TTSC then back to TT. Personally I love my car with just turbo's. Now don't get me wrong its a riot in TTSC form. it just depends on what you like personally. I am fortunate though I can switch back to TTSC easily if I want to. So far I haven't felt the need but that could change.

Not to hijack this but John no doubt has a very beautiful setup here. Anyone who ends up with this would be quite lucky indeed.

All good comments. We have not tried the Whipple + TT combo but I think it will make more low end power but wont gain anything up top. If anything it could lose some power due to the tighter rotor tolerances as well as possible increased parasitic drag on the crank.

I think the TT / SC is a great street set up as it offers great low, mid and top end power. The TT only set up is laggy down low but it will make more power above 4500 rpm due to not having the blower set up. The TT only setup is best for the guy who wants that extra top end kick and knows that he has to keep the motor in its power band for max performance.

In my opinion, the TT/SC is perfect for the street and gives you usable power that has a very broad powerband.

I remember John Colletti had a mustang “Stallion” which I was a bit involved with.

It was a car that you could run gas and flip to alcohol.

But what was real cool was the Super Charger had a switch on the dash which engaged the clutch on the snout of the SC.

Imagine a TT SC car which at say 4800 cut out the SC and the TT's took over?????

And yes the Silver TT/SC with Black stripes over head photo is killer.

Very nice well thought out install John.

Here is a link to a video on it.

interesting vid, thanks for posting it Tom

I shit my pants with the Whipple alone running 19 Lbs of boost. I cannot imagine having any more power. I guess that makes me the pu__y in this bunch.

I was thinking along the same lines you truley get the best of both world and no power robbed from the blower, at high rpm, I had no Idea ford already made a clutched supercharger, this would work great on our cars, you can take it a step further, I wonder if you can slip the clutch to vary the blower speed as to vary boost, or better yet have some sort of waste gate built into the supercharger inorder to control boost, this way you can run the smallest pulley and make any boost you want and not have to change pulleys to change boost levels, ........Im probably just dreaming again.

There you go. However, for those who occasionally wanna do stuff like runnin' the Texas mile, etc, there really IS NO such thing as too much power. For strictly street drivin' though?...uuuuuh, ya! RATIONALLY - there IS! :biggrin ('Not too much sense having more power than your street tires can put to the pavement if you think about it...except for bench racin'.)

Sooooooooo, just when 'ya gettin' your 4 ltr , Gen III, Sam?:rofl

Back to this great looking kit... :thumbsup

I'm holding out for the 5.0 liter Whipple.

:wink

dont laugh they currently make a 5.0 liter whipple, its for marine applications so you can put it on your boat.
