GT Service in SoCal

I am a newbie here, but this seems like a great place to ask this question. My boss owns a GT and it is due for its first oil change (only 5000 on the ODO) and needs a Smog Check. I am wondering who you guys trust to do work on a GT in the Southern California area. The car lives in Bradbury which is near the Pasadena/Arcadia area. I called Galpin. They were my first thought since they have a special Auto Sport shop, but they just referred me to the standard service drive, and they didn't seem like they had any experience with GTs. Anybody have any recommendations for who can be trusted with a GT? I am particularly concerned about the Smog Check since that involves a dyno. The average smog technician should not be trusted with a GT...

PM me I'm 15 minutes from you and can possibly help.

HHGT, I couldn't PM so I sent you an e-mail.

Hi Peter, I sent you a detailed email including our exorbitant price structure for what you wanted. Knowing the legendary history of your boss, having the privilege to work on one of his autos would be un-real. Next thing you know, ol' Tiger is going to call me up for some golfing tips.

Kendall,
Thanks for the quick response. If your prices are exorbitant, the rest of us are doing something wrong!

Responded. I see Kendall has chimed in too.

Laughed my ass off. Funny!

He and his son do excellent work at reasonable prices and, to top it all off, they are really nice people to deal with.

Hey guys. I'm in the same situation as Peter's boss. My GT needs a smog check and I'm going out of town on the 15th for a week, so it has to happen this week to get my registration renewed on time (just noticed the smog requirement this morning). I'm in Camarillo but can bring the car anywhere in the LA area. Thanks for any guidance!

I had a smog test done at Galpin Ford. Took them about an hour cost $65 +/- and I waited for the car.

Thanks. They are my leading candidate but I wanted to see if there were any others to consider. I thought I remember hearing someone say they weren't happy with Galpin's work on their GT, but a smog test is pretty straightforward. I know they deal with other high-end cars so hopefully bolting it down and revving it up isn't an issue. Only the GT Guys have touched the car for the past three years, and if they could do California-certified smog tests I'd use them for that, too.

Buerge Ford, West LA, ask for Jason, tell him Dr J referred you.

Look at your registration. California has given everyone a 30 day reprieve. Check out the dmv website.

you can also just send in the check without the smog certificate. They will then send you a demand for a smog certificate but wont be charged late fees.

BTW - thanks for the heads up big fella. After you shared this with me, I went home and checked........:ack

Those b^st^rds! I was only a couple days away from getting a late fee if you hadn't given me the heads up and a quick trip to AAA.:thumbsup

If you still need a smog, let me know, neighbor across the street can help out, and he's in HB with the test unit "in the floor" (no issues with clearances) :cheers

Got my GT smogged today at:

Grumpy's Smog Center
10060 Canoga Ave #C
Chatsworth, CA 91311
818-882-4333 (Phone)

Don't let the name scare you. He's a great guy and he had the job done in 20 minutes (car passed with flying colors) for $50. Kendall showed up just to see how it all went and both of us feel confident in recommending him to fellow GT owners. If you are in the Valley or West L.A. area and need to get your car smogged give him a call. All GTs will be hitting their 6-year limit on emissions-test-free existence, even if you got yours new and it never changed hands. So we're going to all need to locate trustworthy local shops that can put our cars on rollers without damaging them.

I found mine.

My car is unregistered. It will not need a smog inspection as long as our F@#$%ing idiots in Sacramento demand unrealistic fees. It has 7000 miles on the odo now.

I need to get my GT smogged. Can anyone give any advice for a place around the Inland Empire. I take my GT to Kendall and Ryan for service but was hoping to find someplace closer for this. I'm in Riverside. Thanks in advance.
