Apparently GM believes that picking up Chrysler legacy cost, product duplication, excess mfg. capacity, dealer exposure, warranty & product liability are a lesser evil than continuing to own 49% of GMAC. For its part, Cerebus must believe there is opportunity to remedy some of the exposure at GMAC through the federal bailout, which might sweeten the acquisition -- or -- Bob finally figured out he has no idea of what he is doing in automotive and wants out. Either way, bonus time for Bob.
