German Car Show...Pics

Haven't you two learned that when ya find you've dug yerselves into a deep hole - IT'S BEST TO AT LEAST STOP DIGGIN'? :biggrin

The car looks much better in your pics than ones I had seen previously. Cool car. :thumbsup

I love the exploding door hinges concept. :banana I can't wait till that video inevitably shows up on YouTube. :lol

Thanks for posting the photos. :cheers

'Not too keen on the possibility that SOMETHING could "glitch" and those puppies could "blow" & launch the doors while driving down the highway! :ack :willy

Crash test video is already up. The explosion is triggered with a remote in the video, but apparently will be set off by pulling on the door handle after a set amount of time upside down.

Look for the footage beginning around 2:20

Hmmmmmm. 'Wonder how safe one's noggin would be if 'twas anywhere near either hinge when it went boom (say if there were damage that "warped" the shape of the roof in that area, for example)?

Thanks for posting the link. Interesting video. :cheers I would have liked a more James Bondian type explosion, but the system makes sense and seems to work well.

That said, it is getting to the point that you do something that doesn't end up on YouTube you have to consider yourself lucky. :lol

I hope they tested the blowup hinges under water. You never know if an owner might drive into a body of water. It has happened to the best of cars! Somehow I think that a salt water lagoon may make the system fail.

The Murcielago suffers the same essential design problem in the event of being inverted. I recall some years ago seeing some dreadful photographs of one burnt out with the owner inside....

The Ford GT would be 'awkward' to exit inverted too.

Nice pictures

Love the BMW side car rigs. I have a R60/2 with a Steib sidecar. Taught my dog to ride with me. Merry Christmas!
