Garage Floor Schematic


Hi Red, it's called RaceDeck http://www.racedeck.com/

It snaps together. Very easy to install. I investigated about every product I could find for garage floors.

I couldn't be happier with it. I have my 4 post lift on it, no problems with weight at all.
 
RaceDeck is actually a member on here. Has a Silver 05. good stuff.
 
Very cool. Just so happens I am planning a new garage so this is great info guys. I've had bad experiences with painted floors sticking to my street- approved R compound -type tires on other cars so I would prefer that racedeck type of floor. I've even found that when the GT tires are wet, like after a wash, they stick to reglaur paving bricks.

Here's an idea - any chance the Racedeck guys can make some panels with your Ford GT logo on them so we can have the same look with their floors?

I noticed that Racedeck has voids on the underside. Are there any issues with, liquids seeping underneath the floor, such as if you hose the floor down, or dump oil or antifreeze on it?

I presume water will eventually evaporate, but oil would stay there forever unless you lift the tiles up to clean it out.

I've got Racedeck in my garage and in the shop of one of my dealerships. After about 8 months in the shop I probably wouldn't recommend it for heavy traffic areas or industrial use. It holds up fairly well but it scuffs easy and it's difficult and labor intensive to keep clean. As far as fluids under it, yes water or anything else will get under it if you flood it but water will evaporate and other fluids are only a concern if and when you remove the Racedeck. The tiles fit fairly tightly so I don't think anything can get under it unless you flood it. Wipe up your oilspills fairly quickly and none will get between the joints.

My only reservations for using it in a garage is the hollow noise it makes when you walk on it. It is quite noisy. Strength is not an issue, I put a Toyota FJ Cruiser on 4 jackstands for about a month and they didn't even leave a mark. The only damage our forklift was able to inflict was when we cut the wheels sharply and it popped the tiles apart. The weight was not an issue.

Follow the directions carefully if you use it. It does grow and shrink with temperature fluctuations. Even opening the door and letting the sun shine on it directly will expand it noticeably so you have to leave a gap at every wall.

It's a good product but some sort of sound deadening technology would make it better.
