"Hi guys,
I pitched a show idea at the Network and they bit! It is called 'Forum Wars'......finally a chance for the different online communities to put up or shut up....and in some cases CLEAN HOUSE! It would pitch the two 'Top Dogs' from Viperalley, Supraforums, Ferrarichat, Lambopower, EvolutionM, Rennlist and or 6speedonline and Ford GT forum to compete for their community to be crowned King! It would feature several different venues, which include quarter mile, standing mile, top speed and a road course like Willow Springs in California. The show will be covered by TV, magazines and of course each forum! Now the only question is who is game???"

This sounds like fun:banana But, I'd have to watch. What about you guys with the really FAST GT's??
I would also suggest that the forums best 4 cars compete in different venues because the fastest top speed car may not be the forums best road course car. More cars = more episodes!!:thumbsup

That sounds like a really neat idea. I'll be curious to see how objective (and courteous) people remain as the competition heats up. I can enjoy high performance cars regardless of the make. The optimist in me hopes others can do the same.

Best Regards,
Waldo

Can we get Matech to represent us? :lol:lol

actually there is a thread someone started over at another forum on this exact topic...
interesting,....
very interesting....

Personally I think it's a pipe dream, it's never going to happen, and there's no way to make it reasonable or fair enough that it doesn't just turn into "forum bitching on the internet".

I'm friends with Alex Gurney, bet we could talk him into someone's TT car. His pop has a GT so all is good and fair and we got our "ringer". :wink

And thereby validating Dave's point B4 the whole thing even gets off the ground! :rofl

I'm just saying it would be unfair for everyone at some point. There are Vipers that run 7's@180+. What Ferrari can come within 50 mph of that? There are Ford GT's that have topped 235 mph. A Lambo won't even come close to that because of the gearing. A Supra won't be able to do anything without race gas.

. A Supra won't be able to do anything without race gas.

:rofl:rofl:rofl I like that one.

'Only way to get 'round MOST of the "unfair" pblm is to mandate that all cars be showroom stock ...no "tunes"...no "gears"...no "tires"...no "pro" drivers...no nuthin'. Then go by cu in/weight to pair cars off for the various competitions.

But, I think that's pretty much already been done hasn't it? By Road & Track...Car & Driver...etc.? It's called a "road test".:biggrin

Exactly...

And there are enough sites out there that have enough "drama" to
last a lifetime ....

Very Gay, BS Idea IMO.... :bs

Competition

Hey, Guys, instead of looking at all of the possible problems, look at all of the positives. What great fun regardless of what is done or how it is done. It gives us all something to cuss and discuss both here and around the water cooler (do they still have those things).

I am all for whatever it is. Get more car stuff on TV.:banana:banana:banana:banana

Jim

No problem Jim, I have a couple of hot shoes that will ring out your Ford GT.
They all are expert drivers with years of competition history and can take it to 10/10ths... on your nickel. :)

Sounds neat. I agree with keeping them stock but that raises the issue of which model do the others throw in the ring?

Hmmm.

:thumbsup

First don't bet this won't happen Alex has been on Pinks and recently Speed with his Porsche turbo in a supercar shootout which he won.

Secondly the cars won't be stock so someone with a twin turbo GT needs to represent.

If they can keep it about the cars. There will always be a car that will crush the others in its category like 7 second Vipers, 0-150 Ford GT's etc. (Hmmmm, sounds like this could be called the Heffner and Hennessey Show). So, what if everything was dyno'd and competed in categories by HP? For road course it could be type of suspension mods and HP. Etc.

Doesn't have to be side by side racing. Informal, with owners behind the wheel having a good time using their cars for what they bought and/or built them for.

Win, loose, draw, break or crash. Run what you brung and no excuses.

Keep the personalities out of it and it would be great to see the cars compete.

Can it be done?

Maybe I missed it but I can't believe you didn't break it down further.... with the economy etc..... what matters most (most likely) is cost.... what runs better with what package as well as its cost for acquiring these packages on these cars.... TOP GEAR if you will..... you know the scenario.... each forum gets to start off with STOCK cars..... allowed the same budget XXXX$$$$ and then put that use to how they think it would better serve their vehicles.... Hell, if you could start of with $150K in stock car.... then say 15K in upgrades.... forum members would have to use their heads instead of their wallets..

By and older Lambo for $100K then have 75K to sink into it.... instead of a GT at $170K (respectively) which puts you -5K in the hole with no upgrades....

So, It's a TOP GEAR/MONSTER GARAGE/KING OF THE ROAD/BEST CAR FOR THE BUCK type of show..... Now that would be cool.... savings, science and horse power.... GO PITCH THAT!!1 and get back to me..

Tests
1/4 mile
Track
Cost
MPG at 70mph for a full tank (distance attainable)
Projected maintenance over 2 years or 20 Kmiles
and yes maybe.... THE RETURN (projected) on your vehicle when its 20yrs old...???

I'm not the pitch man. I don't have ANYTHING to do with it. Wish I did though.

I do support any venue where people can watch the cars perform, participate in, talk to owners, drivers, builders etc. On a track and not have to resort to watching 3 beeps and go on You Tube.

What you suggested would be different. I like different. Mabe the promoters will try some of it.

If done right, it could be exciting!

well, I wish you were and I'm sorry you're not...:wink

The cars would have to compete in all events such as 1/4 mile, mile, top speed, road course, etc... So that would even out some of the cars built just for the 1/4 mile etc...
