The roof is going to be painted, so no luck yanking that off. Graphics are not optional on LS. Car was already booked and won't be available in time for the Rally. Will check on the curb weight.

As for Boss vs. GT500, they are very different cars. For starters, Boss will be cheaper. It will max out with a number starting with "4". It's also going to be slower in a straight line. It will be a much better dedicated road course car. GT500 is for guys that do what GT guys do, which is add cheap power and build rocket ships for the street. Boss and LS are for people that want to use a vBox and analyze lap times. You can't make a Boss easily put out 650 hp. I also think the GT500 is substantially better looking and way more tasteful. The Boss is a car I want, but in all honesty, it looks a bit ridiculous (at least the Laguna Seca version). The painted grill and wheels are just...very East L.A. to me. I just know I absolutely love the 5.0L in the GT I already have, and a 7500 rpm screamer version with another 40 hp with killer brakes and some weight yanked out will be a blast on a road course. I'm told it sounds unreal through the side pipes.

All I know is that the next 3 years are going to be a major shock to the system of people that thought the era of high performance was over. I want one of everything. :biggrin

I'm told the curb weight is just a tick over 3600 lbs. :thumbsup Quick answer!

It should be a real animal.

DBK,
I'm in total agreement on the wheels, grill and rear spoiler. I honestly don't know what they were going for! The car though is what I want a true road course warrior, begging to be flogged! It's a bagger(place a bag over her head) as is but fortunately with a little paint, powder coat and wrap she'll look much better. Just remember what's underneath!

The obvious color/graphic choice for the LS version would have been Grabber Orange with the classic Boss 302 graphics.

Although I don't care for the graphics/wheels on the LS (they would probably keep me from getting one), I'm glad Ford built it. Ford is doing a great job with its performance cars and parts. The factory support for the go-fast crowd is terrific and without serious competition from any of the other manufacturers. Ford just released a 750 hp (!) supercharger kit for the 2007-2008 GT500.

Obvious to me too! I guess they know what their doing..Would love the LS in grabber orange and black though. Even-though she's not the prettiest gal I'll still get one.

I'd rather buy a gt500 and make it into a boss clone! am I sick or what? I wouldnt be surprised if they come up with a boss 9 version with a sc 5.4 in it. now that would be a car I would jump on!

Soroush, I like your thinking, but if Ford would release a Boss 429 version, that would really make my day.

I remember one of the V10 engines in the concept cobra or GR1 getting close to 427 CI. 0.20 over should do it. 605 hp all motor as I remember. Coyote heads would probably pile on another 75 to 100.

I own a 70 BOSS 302 and love it. Thinking about selling the 07 GT500 and replacing it with the new BOSS. I've improved the suspension on the GT500 but it's still not decent at the track. The new BOSS should take care of that!

We were up at Laguna Seca the day they debuted the new BOSS. Really awesome, except the gay looking red wheels on the LS version....why they did not put on the black wheels like the blue and orange BOSS cars I don't know.

Gino,
Assuming you mean the off-road race car, those were $79,000 available through dealers. The Grand Am homologation version were $129,000. I think they were limited to 50, but I'm not sure if they sold them all.

Anyone on the market for a Grabber Orange 07 GT500???? :)

And to think my 70 BOSS I owned in high school (72-74) was Calypso Coral like this new BOSS...
