Internet is dodgy here, so will do my best to load some of these up. Pictures taken by Matech GT1 (Steven Nesta). I think you guys are going to love the car in person. Really insane.

These headlights will become more similar to the road car down the road.

One outlet for exhaust, the other dumps from the turbo (which is located right next to the outlet).

Great Shots. What an awesome looking car. Hope it runs as good as it looks and hangs in there for 24hrs when it races.

Bodywork is so wild in the rear. It's like an LMP1/GTE hybrid.

Love how the increase in rear width is handled around the tail lamps.

Placing the wing so far back in combination with the long tail and massive diffuser = big aero benefits.

The entire gallery of 117 pictures can be viewed here:

You could basically stick your entire head in between the diffuser and the bottom of the body work, which we of course did, but not sure they want pics of that up. It is impressive packaging in there, and the car must have an extremely low CG relative to competition. Just can't wait to see the car run.

Best part of the weekend and all this stuff?

Larry Holt of Multimatic on the left, Chris Svensson (Design Director, The Americas, Ford - who you probably recognize from that great Forza 6 Ford GT promo video) on the right. Both great guys I got to spend a lot of time talking to. I don't think Larry would be offended if I said he seemed like exactly the right amount of crazy and brilliant for something like this. We talked about new GT, and also about all the work MM did on the 05/06 car. Told me his side of the billet control arm story (they provided the billet pieces when Ford needed the fix ASAP). Really, really interesting guy. I was thinking "Indy GT's head would be exploding if he was listening to this discussion."

Left to Right -

Craig Metros (Exterior Design Director), Chris Svensson (Design Director, The Americas), Moray Callum (Head of all Ford Design globally), Todd Willing (Design Director Ford Asia Pacific)

A great team. So lucky to talk with these guys about the phenomenal product they've created. All car guys (with cool toys), and all with many interesting things to say. Hope I'm getting this right but I believe Todd was leading within the small studio on GT design at the beginning of the effort, and then when he went to take over the Pacific region Craig came in and completed the task. Chris helms all design in the region GT was done in so he was involved on a day to day basis as director, and then Moray is the head of design of all Ford Motor Company.

They really stressed the team aspect of the project. Also, it's very, very clear race car was the ultimate priority while still retaining road car sensibility. I think that now that we can finally talk about the race car program, messaging on the road car is going to get a lot more coherent. The powertrain choice, construction method, production volume levels of road car are all a function of "how do we use technology and efficiency to make the most successful race car."

Lucky for us, all of the above will all be in Dearborn for Rally 10, and now that race car program is public, we can start completing a program so you can here about this stuff for yourselves. Awesome stuff from all of them. I can tell you this much, they will fit right in with us :lol

Again, what a weekend!

Ford's phenomenal European PR man Jay Ward took care of Ford GT National Rally Road Rally Champions Matt and Danielle as well (When they weren't busy hanging out with Derek Bell and Hurley Haywood over in the Porsche hospitality). Jay is working on exciting stuff for Ford enthusiasts at LM 16 as we speak!

Nice write up, Dave! And excellent photos Steven, great composition that helps to provide some aero/mechanical insight beyond the standard Ford media photos.

The car really looks amazing. If the street version is anywhere close to this it will be the nicest super car on the planet. Holding my breath that I will get one....

Interesting that the Porsches were White, Red & Blue.... and not Black, Red & Yellow - perhaps a salute to the French Tricolor

Great writeup, thanks Dave!

One question, where is the Ford GT Forum logo going to be placed on the new car?

For an old SLR guy, the quality of the photos is just unbelievable!

Love the road clearance for getting into McDonald's - or Dunkin' Donuts in this neck of the woods. (MA)

What do you think the dealer list price will be for that rear diffuser? Has to be an aero reason for all those segments.

What an unbelievable car and so great for Ford to be building such a great race car and then going to produce these for us common people. Still trying to figure out a way to get my hands on one of these cars in order to see how far the limits of the new GT can be pushed.

Still Mile Racing a 2006 Ford GT but would love to put a "new" 2017 on the track as well!!!!!

Joe,

I can't answer that question, but I can say that there will be a Ford GT Forum logo on the car somewhere when it races at LeMans. Size and position to be determined. :banana

Dave, I am quite honored by your thoughts!

How much longer over in Europe? I can go buy a transatlantic ticket in a moment’s notice….:biggrin
Unfortunately the Concorde is no longer in service or I could make it quicker.

Any chance they'll have a presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in a couple of weeks? We're going over for that and it would be so cool to see the race version
