Your point is well taken, and I agree that most, if not all, of Ferrari owners I meet in person are great guys. I think the gripe central to this thread is the unpleasant tone one encounters on FCHAT. I'm sure that a lot of this is related to the anonymity of the internet and the fact that some folks say things with a keyboard that they would never say to a person face to face. Moreover, sometimes we give credibility to a post online that we would never give if we knew its author personally. Shoot, I've met quite of few of the people who post here, and believe me, it all makes so much more sense now...

I don't get involved with Fchat. The uk section split off years ago and formed their own site.

Ferrari is a high performance exclusive car manufacturer who only produce that sort of car. Ford are the original mass market manufacturer. They come from opposite ends of the car world and you can't them compare as a result.

The 458 is the first beautiful Ferrari in decades. I'm not a Ferrari guy (to state the obvious), but I really like the 458. If only they put a manual transmission in it, me and 2 other people would buy it.

I'm lucky enough to have both the 458 and the GT, and trying to identify the differences is one of my favorite tasks. Its tough work, but someone's gotta do it.

And since we are on the subject of Ford vs. Ferrari, it is this very dynamic that makes the Le Mans story so compelling. Isn't it cool to see what a giant like Ford can do when it sets its mind to it? It happened from 1966-1969 and again from 2005- 2006. Bravo Ford. Bravo Ferrari. Isn't it great to be alive to see it?

Ironically, the picture that CobraR posted is of the stunt car and not a real TR. Ferrari donated 2 real black(Nero) TR's for the show that got repainted to white. Only one episode do you see them in black when the bad guy of the week is driving them. One of the show TR's is now on display at that famous Swap Shop place in FL. The owner has lots of amazing cars including a red Ford GT but I'd rate his unique Ferrari 275 Comp. as the standout.

Read that thread with amusement. Don't care what the OP had to say as well as some of the others. On-line forums are always a mix of personalities as well as club members which makes for some interesting reading and discussions.

Gonna disagree with you on that one. Ferrari hasn't made very many works of art lately. 458 is by far the best looking car they've had in a while. 355, 430, 456, 612, 599, California, FF are not what I'd call works of art....

Last night and this morning, as we entered and exited our motel in Monterey, there was a beautiful yellow 360 Modena in our parking lot. Personally, I think the exterior lines of the 360's and 430's are, in their areas, as beautiful as our GT's are in our area. Smooth flowing with a gracious hint of power to stimulate the testosterone of us males.

I'll never have a Ferrari, but it doesn't mean I can't or won't appreciate them.

I'm certainly not saying I don't appreciate them, I just don't think the recent generation of Ferrari are what I'd consider design classics, or something you'd encase in a glass living room the way you would a Miura or a 512 BBi. Part of it is the rules that govern the shape of cars, but part of it is definitely a dedication to science over art. I think you'll find that same opinion has been pretty prevalent among a good deal of Ferrari owners as well.

I'm happy to say that the automobile manufacturers are again subscribing to the maxim that good design sells. I am pleasantly surprised at how nice looking even many of the inexpensive cars are. Cars like the Fusion and some of the Kias even have style in spades. While the 360 and 430 are great cars, I think they are bland as heck and aging very poorly.

I was thinking about this thread during my run last night. I think we, Ford GT loyalists, should be thanking Enzo Ferrari. If it was not for him refusing to sell Ferrari to Ford the Ford GT may have never happened. Sure glad he backed out and lit a fire under Henry Ford II to produce the GT. By the way, the 458 is in my top three cars I would love to own. The first two being Ford GT's of course.

That site is clueless about the value of that 275 though throwing out a 1.8M value. That particular 275 is one of only 3 GTB/C Speciales and in fact was the first and only one to have LeMans racing history by the Ferrari Factory team in '65(3rd overall, first in class) among other events. Easy 10M+ car in the Ferrari world and easily the most desirable 275. Wonder if it ever rubbed fenders with a GT40 back in the day

Nothing will compare to the Ford GT. I get it and I agree and it is a once in a generation car. It breaks all the rules.

I own both a Gt and 458 and few other cars as well. I love them all. I ll never have to pick so I won't even try to.

But god dam that 458 is as complete of a car as I ve ever driven.............................

Now one thing is not up for debate.... This forum is the best as is the group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
