First Retail Order GT for sale

Would you rather have the very first car or the very last in a production run? I recall seeing a few years back a very high number paid at auction for the last 67' Corvette to roll of the production line. Does anyone know who got the last GT? Would you have paid more to have it?

Edsel and Henry III. Both Heritage. Those were supposed to be 2 of the last 3. Not sure if that ended up happening.

Maybe it's in the wording. "First". First retail car. First delivered car. First car. First publicly delivered car. First auctioned car. First car offered to the public. First car produced. First available car. First car meant to be sold. First car sold. First car sold by FoMoCo. First car delivered by FoMoCo. First car auctioned by FoMoCo. ............lots of "firsts".

You forgot the "first" car to have the peddle mashed w/cold tires and then hit something. I recall a pic of a black car nosed into a pole at what looked like a golf course. At the time I was just starting to shop and prices were still in the very high 2's and low 3's. That guy must have been so bummed.
All this first talk has me reminiscing back to Aug of 05 when I first got my car. I was so excited I drove it home and jumped on line looking for people to share my thoughts with about how cool this car was. This is when I found Dave's forum, at the time I had no idea how helpful it would be and later how addicted I would become. DBK the "GT Pusher" man.:ack

Are you referring to the "last" GT built, the "last" GT sold, the "last" GT retailed", the "last" GT retailed in the US, the "last" GT delivered, the "last" serial numbered GT, or the "last" GT offered to the public?:biggrin:frown:confused:eek:willy
I have a funny feeling this isn't the "last" time you're going to do this, nor is it the "first" time!

To impress your friends . Seriously, I guess years from now its history may matter if it goes across Mecom or BJ. I have the second Viper ever produced (VIN 00002) which may have a bit more history because it was the personal car of Bob Lutz, the President of Chrysler and the Father of Viper. But even that one may take a few years.

nice! I recently bought 1992 viper #12 also a "pre-production car" as first car sold to the public was #18. my car still has testing gadgets all over it from when it was being used by Dodge for marketing, engineering, etc. I dont know anything about this GT's history but I gotta say im a bit surprised the 92 vipers trade for almost no premium to regular vipers. There were only 256 made and its a first year!

Enjoy your new GT!

Henry III has the last US Vin# "1870".

I stand corrected on the microsoft part. I always think of that car as being white since the auction picture shows a white "exemplar" car being auctioned off by Jay Leno. As to what difference it makes owning number this or that, that is just a function of the market for cars and not the true enjoyment "of a great car on a great road". If you have been to Saleen SSV you know that the VIN does NOT reflect the order the cars were actually made. They even pulled ours out of line to allow us to see it being made when we got there for spring break. Yes, we went to Detroit from Florida for spring break that year. Cost more husband points than the car did to do that.

Personally, 2005 #1857 is the most important Ford GT (to me) - because it's mine!!

whats the last 05 vin?

whats the last 05 vin?

Cobrajeff would have the last VIN, but my authenticity kit says there were 2,022 GT's built as 2005 models, and 2,011 as 2006 models, for a total of 4,033 - yet we know there were 4,038 built. Were the other 5 cars built in 2004?

whats the last 05 vin?

Last produced, last numbered, last sold, last offered, last US VIN, last ordered, last available? Dang this gets tiring. Mine is the only one produced and sold with VIN 1613.

Here ya go:

Happily, I was the First Purchaser of my GT.

And you always have to have the last word too.

Pretty hard to tell what it is, without a VIN. I would concur that Mr. Shirley's car (which is Blue - a White car was representing it at the Christie's Auction in Monterey where he made the deal for the rights to buy the "first" production car) was the first Retail delivery, though in the database, his vehicle shows up as a "Dealer Stock" order.

I contacted Legendary, and got the VIN of the car (5-0046). It IS shown in my database as the "First Retail Order" - the car was built 8/13/2004. Mr. Shirley's car (5-0010), which is the "first car delivered to the public" was built 7/23/2004.

The last 2005, which has the highest 2005 VIN, and actually WAS the last 2005 model built, is 5-2068. According to my data, there were 2027 '05 model Ford GTs built. I have not been able to reconcile the count difference with the data from the SVT package. I do see five units in my data with a unique code that I have not been able to decipher - I would guess the SVT data is not counting those units for some unknown reason.

regards,

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff :thumbsup

If the last '05 VIN is 2068, there must be quite a few missing numbers - unassigned.

They are asking $164,900.00 CANADIAN
interesting it has the brushed aluminum dashboard like mine. It's a carbon copy of mine except it has gray calipers and mine has red.

What are they asking for it?
