The article about his resignation:

HHMM, His 19 year old son has 2 DUI's!!! Sheesh.

He says that all of the drinkers on the boat were legal drinking age....I wonder who was driving

Giant ooopppsss.

I don't know these people and am fairly unfamiliar with the culture. But doesn't it strike everyone as being rather sad that the head of a school should feel it necessary to resign?

The girl was not under age.

Alcohol is not illegal.

It was a private party.

Did something bad happen?

Have I missed the point?

I'm increasingly fed up with this overtly petty, petulant, picky and profoundly politically correct and prurient world we live in. (I think that's all the P's).

You forgot...pathetic.

As usual, you nailed the issue on the head. The problem is unhappy, bitter people sitting at home looking for any reason to have self-righteous indignation about other peoples lives in order to make their own boring, misused lives seem more important. On a whole less successful people enjoy seeing more successful people experience a fall from grace.

I have said this many times, do whatever makes you happy as a career/with your life. But don't try to foist your ideas on others about how they should be living their lives. Show me the person who hasn't ever made a mistake (and I don't think this guy did make a mistake at all) and I will show you a person who isn't experiencing all that life has to offer. I hate hearing people talk about what they could have done. You did what you did and you are where you are. Accept it. My goal is to get to the end with as few regrets as possible. If I miss out on something it won't be from a lack of trying. :biggrin

Now, how do I get an invitation to the next boat party. :cheers

Thank yeeeeeeeeew! 'Exactamundo!

'Same basic mindset was involved when Bill Bennett (our former Sec. of Education and our former (so called) "drug czar" as well, Neil) was BLASTED by the press for playing the slot machines in 'Vegas. 'Perfectly LEGAL...it was HIS money...it was HIS 'hobby' so to speak...he enjoyed doing it ... he could EASILY afford it...his family wasn't deprived as a result of it...yet the "P.C." crowd had a field day.

And so many wonder why the BEST QUALIFIED people never run for office.

I have found these quotes to be very true in my 52 years. "People like to see you do good, but not TOO good" "Sleep with dogs and you will get some fleas" "It is easier to ask forgiveness than permission"

"It is easier to ask forgiveness than permission"

That was a tag line used by an ex-KGO of SF talk radio show host, Bernie Ward. He tried that line in federal court, but it didn't work. He is now spending 7 years in the Federal Pen for child porn charges!

I think it's obvious what's going on. The photo was taken during the Iowa flooding. Drinking water was in short supply. The school president was just helping the young girl replace fluids ! They were probably assisting in rescue efforts.....:slap

:agree: What Neil said.

Besides, who wants to live in a world where a man can't help a scantily clad woman drink beer directly from the keg. Isn't that one of our constitutionally protected rights :usa ! If it is not a part of the Bill of Rights we need another amendment. :biggrin

AMEN!

You guys don't get academic situations. One report to the Dean of Students, even from people not involved, and an investigation ensues. Ask me how I know this at the Rally.

Yes we do. 'Just rebelling against 'em! :usa

I heard somewhere (on the news) that he got a severance package of $400K after resigning the position.... Heck, I'd quit too.

Not nearly enough. $4mm, maybe; not for $400k.

He got $400k.

Interesting comments. In my industry that picture could put our franchises at risk....
