Best color for keeping clean

I am curious to see how members feel about their FGT color and how much effort it is to keep it looking spotless. I have a few cars of different colors, red is not too bad but shows dust up close, white is easy but gets dirty quickly, snake skin green is actually quite easy and doesn't take much to keep polished, just a wipe down with a detailer avoids a major wash. Tungsten and Sterling Grey are very easy to keep clean and do not show dust or dirt very noticeably. Black, however, in another story. I have a black car and when it is shining and clean, nothing compares, but a drive around the block, it is dirty. Tremendous amount of work keeping a black car looking good. I will never own another black car. Mid nite Blue must be close to black in keeping clean? I think the easiest color to maintain a new look and shine is Tungsten! And the sun reflection off a tungsten car is awesome. Perhaps I am biased. :thumbsup

Nah, you're not biased, tungsten is the best. Are you in the office tomorrow, Eric? I'm coming in to see on of your colleagues at 1:30PM.

My GT500 Mustang is white, and that car always looks clean(except break dust). Sometime when I wash it I am amazed how much dirt comes off.

Triheart7 that is just an illusion, it is really dirty!!! :cheers
Tungsten is the best for appearing clean when it is not.

I got white just so it would stay clean. After my last black vette, I said "that's it for me and black cars."

Honestly, I wanted Midnight Blue on the GT but I knew it would get trashed from the amount of driving I wanted to do with the car. White, Red, and the two iterations of silver are pretty good. Heritage is also pretty good. Black or blue is equally hard to keep clean and protect, but boy do they both look awesome when clean.

This picture really captures how phenomenal the blue looks in good light. It's really stunning.

I am in the main hospital at RRMC. Are you seeing Dr.B?

Hope you are doing well.

Agreed, but one around the block and bingo, in for a detail wash down. Does look stunning! Notice the red paint dot on the tires!

That blue GT picture is stunning!

I agree with Dave, the heritage is the easiest to keep clean and the blue is the hardest... My black car is even easier than the blue to keep looking sharp. But the blue is incredible for those 30 seconds or so that its clean. :bored

The car colours I've had in my life are yellow, black, silver, midnight blue, racing green and red.

Silver always looked OK on my XKR and Vanquish, kept pretty clean. Red would run a close second. The black and midnight got dirty just by looking at them.

So I would tend to agree with Doctor Car Collector! :biggrin

Aaaaaaaaaah...but, where's the CORRESPONDING "black" dot on the wheel? :biggrin

I have had and washed every color the GT is made in. As far as not showing paint inperfections, surface scratches and dust, White has that in the bag HANDS DOWN. As far as not showing actual dirt, etc, I would say tungsten. The Heritage is fairly easy, but it will show worse than the others and the bugs show up like a sore thumb on the orange nose. The blue is damn close to the black in difficulty of keeping clean and free of surface scratches. The Yellow is not bad, but most have the black stripes and you are back with the hastle of black again. Red is in the middle. That about sums it up....

Oh, yeah, silver is pretty easy to, but tungsten has it beat as far as not showing actual dirt.....

Having black now, and having had tungsten before, black is a pita, but I still love it.

RED is the best!

This is the best explanation I have ever heard about GT color and keeping it clean. Kind of brought a tear to my eyes when I read it! :rofl:rofl

Simply put.."Midnight Blue Rocks!!"
It is worth the effort.

That blue is rich

Tungsten shows very little dirt. Even the 3M bra is very hard to see unless you know it is there. But I really love a clean, solid black GT....as long as someone else is keeping it clean.:biggrin
