Bad News if you own a GTR

Wow thats brutal................I will have to reserve judgement.

Gentlemen,

I do not need to reserve judgment. GTR = :thumbsdow It matters not a whit if the news media does not report this. Information like this travels at light speed in this blog happy internet age. Among automobile enthusiasts who are both capable and inclined to purchase a GTR, that product is about as appealing right now as a gallon of whole milk from China.

This discussion makes me appreciate the relative simplicity of the FGT. Our cars are incredible performers without all the electronic nonsense.

Egg-sackerly. :wink

Maybe a new test would be how many time you can lap Nurburgring under 8 mins. without breaking down or voiding your warranty.

+10000000000 plus they are lookers to boot. Yet to see a car that I enjoy the looks of better than the GT. :banana

i cant believe that
A) they will produce a product and then not stand behind it
B) screw the customer with a huge dealer markup
C) charge 20k for a transmission
D) not offer a stick shift
E) put a black box in it
F) ALL OF THE ABOVE

We’ve been hearing the rumours in the Japanese motoring press lately that this might happen and as of this week it is confirmed. Nissan has instructed dealers to temporarily halt taking orders on the new Japanese supercar - the Nissan GT-R. When ordering will recommence, at this stage, is unclear. This is for Nissan Japan only and we’re not sure if it applies to other regions right now.

Exactly the reasoning behind this is not given right now, if the Tochigi Factory production line has also been halted is also not known. Rumours regarding the current “price hike” for materials being the reason is also not verified.

one of a few theories as to why

1. cut supply to keep artificial demand high
2. Transmissions are breaking world wide, and Nissan is addressing the issue...

BTW, I have looked through all 35 pages of the old and new thread on the NAGTROC forum and it sure makes me appreciate our administrator and moderator for running such a nice show here on the FGT Forum. :thumbsup Sure are a lot of ugly posts in that thread - many of which are totally unrelated to the original topic and a total waste of everyone's time IMHO.
Thanks Guys! :cheers

thanks Dave!

I know a few people who have been skeptical of the ability (and durability) of the new dual clutch transmission in the Nissan to handle its power over time. This is of course different from the F1 ferrari transmission and the e-gear lambo one. Wonder why Audi has never put its DSG transmission in the Lambo? Could it be that it could not handle the power? Based on this event, I would also predict that the GT-R transmission could also fail after several track events. How will it hold up with spirited driving over let's say a 5-year-period? Interestingly, how would all of you feel if the software in your car monitored your driving habits...which is what happens in the Nissan.:thumbsdow I had not thought of this until recently, but I am sure that this information was downloaded by the Nissan engineers in this case.

I guess all this bad news (plus the economy) have lowered the high from $100K plus to the mid $70s.

after looking at how many on ebay ... a dime a dozen went thru my mind. :wink

with vdc off, it's not the clutch that is wearing out, its the teeth of the gearbox that get caught out apparently due to wheel-hop.

Also big brother Nissan is watching you...man I love the simplicity of our GT!

Wow! - not just th GT-R!

"Today, every 2009 Nissan sold in the United States is fitted with an EDR, and along with nearly every automaker selling EDR-equipped vehicles, Nissan records or will be able to record the 30 data points that the federal government will require of all EDR-equipped vehicles by 2012."

Once recorded, it can always be subpoened as evidence. Then, it's up to a judge to determine if the evidence is admissable in any court action. And, once a vehicle is impounded, while a search warrant may be required by law, any evidence could easily by examined illegally to see if a search warrant should be requested. Protection of privacy and property totally abused.

"...that this does nothing to constrain law-enforcement accident investigators, private eyes and other interested parties-such as manufacturers and insurance companies-from getting a court order to download the information.":eek

Not my cup of tea....:bs

Nor mine... I am sure there will be devices on the market to scrub the data. Understand that in 2013 every toilet will require a device that reports the deposits made on a daily basis. This information will be reviewed by ACORN.:slap:devil:bang:bs:bs:bs:devil:slap
