I don't mind the storage limits on the GT has I always drive wearing cargo pants & stuff the pockets full of gum, cell phone, pens, wallet, small tools, duct tape, CDs, Kleenix tissues, first aid kit, flairs, condoms, large knife, water bottle & more! Just don't drive your GT into deep water or you're doomed.

Greetings all

Here's another new product introduction tonight.

Here's a practical solution to one of those minor issues of the GT; limited storage.

I have developed a conversion kit to install into the the original magnesium tunnels, the same arm rest storage bin I integrate into my carbon tunnels. The profile of the arm rest replicates the original part, though it is about 12mm higher to afford more storage space. I include a bit of padding under the leather, so the surface feels a bit more soft than the original arm rest.

The bin itself has a carbon fiber lip, and has a flocked inner surface.
The lid itself is a new-tooled item. The leather covering matches the Sparco seats and the inner lid is flocked as well. All hardware is source from other O.E.s, so durability and function is commensurate. Hinges are spring-loaded 4-bar hinges which I source from the C6 Corvette. The latch is a Toyota item. buffers are Ford.

You can see from the photos just how surprisingly large the storage area is. It comfortably holds; Emily's rather large Roberto Cavalli sunglasses, a cell phone, and has plenty of space for other things, including an iPod.

Installation requires;
1) removal of the original tunnel from the vehicle
2) the area under the original arm rest must be cut out of the tunnel to create an area to receive the new assembly
3) the new storage bin assembly is bonded to the original magnesium tunnel
4) the insulator under the tunnel must be trimmed to create a void for the storage bin volume

The kit itself includes; the storage bin assembly, structural adhesive, as well as a vac-formed trimming template.

The first two are already spoken for by a loyal customer and some guy named "Shadowman". Perhaps you have heard of him?

Bony - you need to utilize the mesh pockets on the front of the seat cushion for the Makers & M&R bottles. Plenty of room. Not sure where the ice maker goes.

When in Rome one just has to make do.:banana

I would be interested in the trunk liner, the luggage

and

+4 for a center console that would be more of a direct replacement with no cutting of the tunnel, even if it was a little higher than the stock pad would be fine

It has been a long time since I went to your Discovery website. You are truley the GT master. I should have expected you to be modest but now I am going home to throw rocks at my GT after seeing what you have done to yours and customers.:thumbsup

If I lived in the west I would be a frequent guest/customer and if I had a Beamer I would move next door:wink

Oh and I should add I live very close to KIP but I nead to sell more lemonade at my stand to visit him.

First of all thank you all for the kind words; a much needed smile was created after a series of very long days

Now as for the comments about a "Bit-O-Trimming" that is required to integrate this piece into the OEM center console. I too understand the comments and "if" had been given a choice would have preferred not to have to however having said this I have said many times that how a piece is integrated (this is a key word) rather than simply added to is IMO make s all the difference.

I feel that the pocket as designed and fabricated by Kip is just such an example of well thought out integrated piece. FYI Kip spent an exhaustive amount of time test, twisting, and tweaking until the perfect compromise was found; meaning the balance between a functional piece rather than simply a place to toss a couple coins or having a mound in-between the seats. I for one feel that he hit the proverbial home run on this one. This is an example of a finish piece that likely even Jamal the GT project manager would have enjoyed seeing incorporated into these gals at the onset however budgets and time IMO precluded many of these cool little pieces from getting off the drawing board.

Even on the gals that do not have Kip's full carbon fiber interior treatment will find that the modest amount of visible carbon fiber surrounding the custom pocket that will only be seen when the lid is opened will find that it quietly/naturally will tie itself into the carbon fiber on the sides and back of the seats and in my case (as well as a few others) the carbon fiber panel that I created to replace the OEM plastic panel located across the front the leather trim panel in-between the seats.
