There are a few guys over there that get it, but the majority over there really don't get it!

I guess the GT is what separates the Enthusiast from the Elitest.

Mark,

The funny thing is the Ford GT was designed by an American with Italian heritage. The Italians are masters of design. Clothes, cars, and much more. If they "don't get it", it's most likely on purpose, and accually funny. :bs

CHOW Ciao,

50,

where did you hear the Ford blocks are rated at 2000HP? I'm not doubting you, I'd just like to know.

F-chat has a few good members, but for the most part its littered with TOOLS! For a good group of guys and a few happy Ford GT owners (other than this site) check www.lambo-power.com :thumbsup

hey, I sold my 06 F-430 and bought the GT...have never regretted it for a second.

No big deal. There are guys with money, and there are car guys with money. I don't care who owns them, I love Ferrari. Old, new. Doesn't matter, as they are beautiful for the most part. Not exactly the world's hottest performance machines, but no matter. I'm sure there are as many cool Ferrari owners, as there are tools on that site.

Some of them will "get" the GT, some will not. If you can be objective and get past the badge on the front of the car, or appreciate history in the least, I don't see how it doesn't appeal. Que sera sera. :cheers

NICE! 50BMG says "...this is about as bright as someone saying a pininfarina badged Peugeot is a Ferrari."

isn't it?

From these folks on ModularFords.com:

John Mehovitz (has the fastest modular in the world period)
Dave King (fastest supercharged modular in history)
I think Al Pappito has also backed it up.

GT blocks are already sold out on the aftermarket. They are a steal at 3500 dollars plus the 2-3K in additional machining work to get around the starter provision and do w/e oiling setup. I damn near bought a set of GT heads and a block a few months ago but I don't want to mess with trying to get it into my Cobra. And a Teskid block is more than fine for what I need :wink

I'm adding fuel to the fire. Check the guy who says his 512 draws a crowd, my experience with the 512 (don't get me wrong I love them and would love to have a nice one) is that most people think its a 308...

What a bunch of clowns!!

I love the non-owner who has probably never driven a GT or a Ferrari in his life explaining to all that the GT is fine "in a straight line" but in the corners the Ferrari will "send a chill down your spine". Wow, what insight. :bs Last weekend at a local car show (Pavillons) I parked my Yellow/Black GT about 20 yards from 3 new Ferrari's. For 2 hours I watched hundreds of people walk past the uninspireing styling :ack of the F-cars like they were Oldsmobiles and crowd around the GT. THAT, sent a "chill down the spines" of the Ferrari owners.

Chip, last weekend there was a brand new 06 F430 over there that saw about -zero- traffic. Idiot Ian's 6.0 Diablo with SFB rims was getting more attention. John's heritage stole the show again though LOL :thumbsup

The funniest one yet is the "GT shares door handles with the Mondeo." :lol

I need to step in here.

When we complain about what they say, it is going to the level that we have tried to stay away from in a typical complaining forum. The talk here is usually pretty good, useful, intelligent, and funny.

Those that want to have the right to think we are a bunch of idiots :ack That's OK because some obviously also like the GTFU.

So? They like Ferraris, we like Fords. We also like some Ferraris. They also like some Fords. There are a number of guys on here that do own or have owned Ferraris. But, here we all are.

It makes the world go round.

I rather poke fun at ourselves and keep on the "we love cars" idea. We are representatives of the owners and need to stay willing to talk and share not only among ourselves but to others. I have not had anyone (yet) be negative or rude to me because I drive a GT - and I plan on returning the respect.

P.S.

Besides, if everyone liked the cars as much as we do, the dealers would have been able to hang on to their high prices. So, I guess we need to thank them for buying a Ferrari - they saved us money :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin

Sometimes the F-Chat boys like to throw these little prima donna sissy fits. The best way to shut them up is to point them to this video so they can see just how pathetic a street legal Ferrari is. Too bad the NSX overheated at the end or it would have spanked the Gallardo and Murci too. :)

What is it with these people and "Domestic" cars? Are they really that full of it?

The NSX driver in that track video is a legend in Japanese motorsports. Clearly he outclassed the rest of the field. Equal driver for equal driver, the NSX wouldn't stand a hope in hell against a Gallardo or Murci under any circumstances. I have run with and NSX on the track (with a fairly capable driver, that had much more track experience than myself), and I walked all over his car (I was driving my Murci at the time). On the same track, I turn slightly quicker lap times with the Gallardo, so the result would have been worse with the Gallardo. I recognize you own an NSX, and it is a great car, but it's no match for the 2 Lambo's. If the track was nothing but turns, maybe the NSX would have a chance. But on any track with a few reasonable straightaways, there is too much time lost by the NSX.

I agree with AZGT. Let the Ferrari folk have their viewpoint without joining the debate - such as it is.

Ferraris are lovely cars and the interior finish is generally excellent. That's about it isn't it? :biggrin

Many of us here could buy several, have bought several and also have a GT or have both.

One of the most attractive qualities of the GT is that it doesn't really bear comparison - with anything. Just about the only comparison is that it's about the same performance as an Enzo but looks nicer.

Couldn't agree with you more. With it's stock 290HP the NSX loses all of it's handling advantages on the straights. I'm serioulsy considering having my car worked on once I get the GT. A properly built NSX engine can achieve over 400HP normally aspirated and over 600HP with forced induction.

You've got to remember that nothing creates more controversy than discussions about politics, religion and cars. Add to that the sense of security and anonymity that a computer provides. The result is that most people take on a different personna when they are on message boards. They say things that they would never say in real life. I went on a charity poker run that the local F-chat people organized and in real life they are a bunch of great folks. Everyone shared a mutual respect for each other's cars. One thing we all have in common regardless of the make of car we drive is the love of these high performance machines.
