Anyone know what color the first pre-production GT was

The yellow car on the roof was an early work horse. It may have been the car in these pictures. Note the non cut out doors, and the metal dash like shaped like the Mustang.I'm told these cars used the Cobra 4.6 engine. The front and rear clips were one piece.

The GT Guys, (Dennis or Rich B.) will have a better handle on this as they were on the program almost from day 1.

First Car seen by dealers

I agree with Boney, I think the first car seen by the public(?) was the yellow with black stripes and was in 2002 and was badged as a GT-40 and was shown to Ford Dealers in Las Vegas. It had the bundle of snakes (they had turned gold because of driving time) with fiberglas body and had a 4.6 V8 engine with supercharger. This car was also at SEMA in 2002 in tyhe same configuration. My guess is they first appeared in public in late '02 as well.... I was seriously considering a CAV replica at the time. Once Ford started making noises like they were really gonna' make this car happen, I decided to just wait and see...

My God, I'm glad I waited.

The very first production car of the 2005 model is a black / silver stripe car but the Vin was 278. The first production car built actually was the Bill Ford white one he showed at the 100 year celebration. The red, white and blue cars were considered 2003 models and his Vin of course is 000001. as far as the #10 and #11 they were built in late January. the Vin's are not sequential with the production of the vehicle. if you need more info please pm me.
 
while we are on this subject does anyone no what "job 1" and "job 2" were.
I have a door from "job 1" which has no internal bracing also the mirror mount hole is 80mm further forward than the production door,and a right front fender from "job 2" the fender seems to be 20mm shorter than the production fender

There were quite a few changes along the way, I can think of a few including the clips on the clam shell, the front grill but most of the job 1 and 2 referes to the $10,000 price increase on the MSRP.
