Any Carrera GT owners out there?

I drove one and didn't have any problem with the leg and knee room, but I am much shorter than you are. I don't know about the headroom though since I drove it top off. The clutch is pretty tough for me to get used to and I didn't want to fry 25K, killed the car off the line too many times. Once rolling very easy to drive.
There's a trick to getting them off the line, basically using the anti-stall you get you moving then go for it.

As others have said all the owners do is talk about clutch's. As I live in the centre of London that ruled the car out due to our traffic issues. It's a lovely thing apart from that and very quick.

Love the Carrera GT, Shelby hooked my up with a glossy black CGT and a killer set of Carbon wheels 2 years ago and it been a terrific car. Run and maintain costs are about the same as the Ford GT of which I have two. Actually the insurance on the Porsche is a few hundred less a year. At 6’1” and 260” I have no issues fitting comfortably. Love the sound 10 cyl revs like a superbike and its real nice being able to take the roof off. Think I’ll bring it to this year’s rally along with the FGT.

The owner did tell me about the auto-stall feature and I used it later and got it moving. Still didn't look pretty, starting off the line slower than a little old lady.

You literally just "pop" the clutch, if you try to let it out too smoothly, you'll burn that sucker up in no time. If you just let it out quick, it might not be soooooo smooooth, but it's going to serve you better over time. It's an awesome car!!

All i can focus on in that place is the floor! Is it just stained/polished concrete? And what are all the little blue things on the wall?

I drove the same Carrera GT that BlackIce drove. I wouldn't want to own one but it did have a very cool exhaust note. I think Mousecatcher still has it but he's not on our forum much nowadays.

Stained and polished Concrete to look like clouds. Dennis’s wife’s collection of Hot Wheels are hanging on every wall and I have no idea how many there are! Check out the floor he just finished in his building for his motor home and other cars, it’s beautiful also.
NOTE: This process is called Three Stage Epoxy!

He has a CGT, 918, and a 959! Tell him he needs a GT1 and a '73 RS to complete the ensemble!

He will be receiving the Newest Porsche in August, I think a GT1 that’s going to be black/yellow with a special wired interior. He already has the special model Porsche sent him, he showed it to me. Excuse me I know nothing about Porsche’s. This is the only one the Houston is getting, ordered especially for Dennis.

I think you are referring to the GT2RS. Houston area is getting at least 15 of those.

Mine will be arriving next month. It's unfortunate that your friend doesn't drive his Porsches. They are great cars!

You are probably right, I repeat, I don’t know Porsche’s! Talked to him this morning and it is a 911 GT2RS with the Weissach Package. $345,000 Pirchase with tons of options.

The Carrera GT was always a very demanding car to drive. Even many high level drivers had a difficult time when it came to pushing the car hard and getting the best lap times. I drove one back in 2007 and right away you can tell it's not a car to be mishandled wise and fast driver's need only apply. If you were able to get a decent take off it was a very rewarding car with precise shifts and a heart melting sound track!!

The CGT is one of the best driver's car on the market today. Full stop.

However, it is not light on the wallet to run and maintain. But maintaining a full carbon chassis race bred vehicle is never cheap, and that's where I think the majority of the NFGT owners will be in it for a big surprise when their warranty expires in a few years time. I was looking at my FGT part lists yesterday, and I couldn't believe how ridiculous cheap those parts cost. $900 for a windshield? Try $8000 on the CGT. $1200 for a rear diffuser? Try $40000 on a carbon fiber diffuser on the CGT.

Very cool garage, but floors like that are way too much work to maintain. You actually need to wipe up oil rather than just let to soak into the concrete.

I have both a FGT and a CGT so will throw in my two cents.
The CGT is a phenomenal car. Carbon tub, horizontal shocks, mid-engine 5.7L V10 developed for F1 and LeMans mated to a 6-speed. The engine noise is simply to die for! It makes impressive mid range torque for such a high pitched screamer. The carbon brakes are phenomenal and don’t fade. Porsche made this their ultimate car to date at the time it was made. The detail and build quality are incredible. It’s understated yet simply stunning from some angles. It has a bad reputation which IMO is undeserved. Once you get used to using the auto-throttle to start from a dead stop it’s a breeze. I find it stable at speed, although you need to drive it with the respect it deserves. It has a primitive Traction Control and no Stability Control. I’ve seen the TC light come on at over 100 mph.

Bottom line:
The CGT and FGT are in a sense cut from the same cloth. They’re both limited production, halo analog super cars meant to showcase their manufacturers capabilities at the time. They’re both 6-speed manuals with lots of power and little to no nannies to watch over you.
They’re engaging drivers cars that are very rewarding but need to be treated with respect.

Which would I go for on a nice spirited sunny Sunday drive?
Today, CGT with the tops off!
